Political post question

Since my barely political post last week was zapped I have a question.

Would a “political” group in the group forums be allowed?

Or are we staying squeaky clean through out the site?

I’ll be traveling today so if this gets out of control could you just lock it instead of zapping it? That way I can see the response.

    Thanks

Ok, seems a group political forum would be OK.

Next question is would anybody be interested in having one? If so I could start one up I guess.

Respond here so I know if there is interest.

I enjoy reading and posting on the political posts at times. I do get tired of the same people posting the same stuff over and over.

    I would be in.

A completely separate folder for Politics would not bother me as I would be under no obligation to even venture into it.

As for wanting one. Not for me. Don’t come to a fishing forum for that. Unless it legislative issue that affect hunting/fishing type laws.

I would be interested in this forum too. I actually learned quite a bit from the Public Union posts a few weeks back. My guess is it will become a pretty popular forum. Not sure I would want to be the moderator though.

I’d follow it closely – but rarely post due to my temper.

While I’m for it, they open up a new can of worms for the mods.
Rarely do political threads not end up with somebody flaming somebody else, and getting deleted.

On the other hand, when a post does get deleted, be nice to hear that’s what happened, instead of it just disappearing.

We can be for it, but I doubt the mods are.

Up front it sounds great but my vote would be no on this. Keep the political discussions for in the boat. Its to easy for those types of posts to go wrong on line.

Member groups can be set up for just about any topic, including politics.

I would say it would be OK, as long as there is nothing about republicans or democrats

Just a suggestion here. We have seen some move towards people changing to using their real names here on IDO. I just did. Political stuff can get pretty rash when people can hide behind screen names. If a forum of this nature is developed, why not make it manidtory that all of those who can enter it be required to use their real name?

I’m going to try and be serious for a moment. Anyone who has met me knows this can be a challenge for myself

I do believe this is the answer you are looking for Brian.

Ido has the “Groups” area. Any member can create a Group for pretty much anything they would like. It’s like a website within a website that you control.

The creator is the Moderator. The Moderator creates the forum rules and enforces them as he wishes. There isn’t any regular IDO Moderation.

The group can be set up as invite only, request to be invited or a public group.

Lets Vote, but you have to register your State/City. That way I can see where the discriminates against Iowans live.

As with any subject on politics there are two or more sides to every subject.
If all opinions no matter what they are,or whether you like it or not, need to be tolerated and respected.

I think it’s a very good idea to start a group. That way I will never have to see a political post in the forums.

I would join a political group on IDO. I have rarely posted on any of the recent political posts, but I’ve read every response. Some of it I agree with it and some I don’t.

I would be interested. However, I would need a second log in name. Not to be anonymous, but to be able to agrue BOTH sides of an issue.

Count me in – but I’d never get any work done .I already spend too much(work)time on politics. It’s always beneficial to hear from people with a different prospective on a given issue to broaden your knowledge on that issue. There are many layers to any political issue & hearing from regular people and not the usual talking heads is refreshing.

since truth and facts rarely get considered in political posts I would vote NO, it only leads to name calling!!! and disrespect THE FACTS DON’T MATTER

My vote is no politics allowed if we are voting. There are some folks whose fishing posts I really like who may lean a different way. I think politics divide us and nobody ever changes anyone else’s mind. We should try to get along. If you want politics go to politico or something. What I really don’t want is an operative using this fine website to rally the base with a bunch of slanted half truths or non truths.

Real friends would never let something so trivial come between them.
