I am looking to install a bow guard on a fiberglass boat and I am interested in any input you may have. Different styles, good luck with, bad luck with etc….

Are you looking for a Keel protector or something to protect the bow hull from rock chips while trailering?

I installed the one out of the Cabela’s catalog on my Stratos. 2 seasons later it is still on tight. Not a very dificult job. Would be a very easy job if not for laying on your back to get at the bottom of the boat.

I dunno, I’m on my second one, and it’s peeling… Not sure which brand Ranger uses.

I had a Keel Guard on my last glass boat and will be putting one on this rig as soon as the weather heats up. Need the right conditions to install properly so the adhesives work as designed…..

I have a keel guard on my boat. My area of concern is where the nose trailer roller hits the bow at the hook. I am wondering if anyone else has any experience with this issue before I purchase one. I just purchased this Ranger and see that it has some scraping happening from that nose wheel.

    Thanks

I put my Keel guard up high enough to cover that ‘spot’ with no problems.

I’ve seen many boats with ‘stainless steel’ bow guard as I think your thinking about, and it has help up great for them.
I don’t think you can go wrong either way, but IMHO you should do something.

I have a crestliner 1850 which is aluminum and was wondering what people have used to protect the bottom of the boat. I was going to put a keel guard on, but with the “rib” running down the middle I didn’t think the keel guard would work because there would be an area for water to get in. The hull is shaped different than a fiberglass boat. Any ideas what to use?
