zebra mussel toxic algae connection

    New research indicates that zebras increase the amount of mycrocystis in lakes. That’s not good news, because zooplankton don’t like to eat toxic algae for obvious reasons. Probably rarely would be a human health issue, but if you take this thing to the next logical step, it is just one more hit on the food chain.

    Hey Carptracker,

    I just wanted to thank you for your input into this site. The vast majority of us on this board do not have formal training in biology. I find your insight invaluable…and it saves me the time of going to the library and seeking out the current info from professional journals .

    I hope you stick because you and your collegues are some of the few who really have a handle on the direction this wonderful fishery is headed. As anglers we need this foresighted information to decide which fires to fight that will effect the fish we all seek.
