Might want check out some opportunities in KY. I’ve heard you can hunt hogs with no license down there.

Not as much talk of the piggys lately. Not sure if the DNR got them cleaned out or if they are just not that big a deal when people see them.

I tried to get permission from a few farms that reported damage to the DNR for SW WI. No Go from them. I did make a couple trips to public land with no success.

    Little off topic…

I think it was last year I was in the boat with a fella that went hog hunting in CA. If I recall, the were using bows…but the guide said if you want a rush, use a knife.

That’s what he did. I don’t recall who this was, but he crept up from behind and slit the hogs throat. MY adrenaline was at a peak by the time he finished the story.

I’ll put that on my list of possibilities although it’s not exactly what I am looking for. More interested in management hunts.

They have a reality show on now called Hogs Gone Wild. (Video clips on Youtube.) Most of those guys take them down with a rope and knife after getting them stopped with dogs. Never knew they were such a huge problem down south.

Keep your eyes open for a documentary call Pig Bomb. It’s quite eye opening. I can’t remember which channel I watched is on, probably History or one of those “oddball” channels that seem to have the best TV now days.

I’ve wanted to hog hunt also. But I here that a lot, if not most land owners complain about the hogs, BUT will not let you hunt. I thinks they just want money from DNR for dammage. Also a lot of them in QDM, and they don’t want you to scare there deer away.

This is a dated map showing the ‘infestation’ of pigs in the midwest. Since this map, I’ve heard reports of them being in SW Mn, Eastern SD, and farmers reportedly were letting hunters hunt them like SD ranchers allow for prairie dogs…exactly ‘where’ these counties are for sure I don’t know. But maybe checking with local game wardens might get you on the trail to some wild pigs…
