Yep. Passport. And make sure everyone with you has a clean record.

You do not need a passport, but I thinke it goes a little smother if you have one. Gene

Yes, Get a Passport, makes it much easier (From my experience a couple trips each of last 4 years) and for all kids too. Oh, for Kids (under 18yo), make sure you have proper paperwork, notorized and signed by wife that you have permission to take kids across the border or you’ll be delayed & turned around.

Ditto, Clean Record, (No DUI or Felonies on record).

If you fly you need a Passport. If you drive you can just get the passport card that looks like a drivers license. You will need your actual birth certificate and you have to send it in with the application. They lost my original birth certificate and my legal name change documents. It is my responsibility to get new ones at my cost! If you can drive to the Federal Building in Minneapolis you can apply and receive your passport on the spot, although it may cost extra for that but it is well worth it considering what I now have to go through to get new documents. Have fun!

I see you are from Wisconsin, so maybe a trip to your federal building is closer….if you can make your way through all those protesters. One other thing, the Canadians could care less about a passport; it’s coming back into the USA that it is necessary.

If you have a ID and a birth certificate you will not need one to enter the states (Canada does not require one) but as stated above it will make things smoother. If you don’t mind that take the money saved and buy yourselves each a new rod and reel or some nice lures for casting.

A lot of the Post Offices have Passport offices in them, here in Eau Claire it does.

Get a passport, have a clean record, and be ready to answer questions. Sometimes when we cross at I-Falls the border patrols there are complete A$$ holes. If youre nice and 100% legal, there will be no worries! Hopefully you can get some fish then!!
