I cleaned out the garage at our cabin last year and brought home some old rod/reel combos that haven’t been touched in quite a while. They’re just cheap spincast gear, but I figured some type of volunteer/mentoring program would be able to put them to use.

Does anyone know where I can donate them? They’re just collecting dust in my garage right now.

Does the high school in your area have a fishing club. Here in Illinois they have it in there high school. If they do they always need equipment so kids can practice with it or use it.

    R –
    You the man!

I run a Natural Resources Advisory program at Red Wing HS and I am teaching the youngsters how to tie hair jigs and get ready to fish for anything that swims.

I can use rods and reels that are in workable condition–spincast or spinning.

We will be casting from shore on the river and working the trout streams too.

If you’ll be at Evert’s–which I am every week or so–let me know and we can hook up.

Send me a PM if you want.

If anybody else can help out, let me know. Just trying to get 22 junior high kids into the outdoors!

I am involved with the Minnesota Vallay In-Fisherman Club. We help support several youth fishing outings every year and the local Rec. Departments would love to get more equipment for these events.

Send me a PM if you still have anyting left.

Thanks The kids will definetly put them to use

I know earlier this week someone had posted that over this last weekend his buddies house burnt down to the ground somewhere just south of St. Cloud and he lost everything, including all fishing equipment and was looking for donations to help his friend get back on his feet again. I’ll see if I can find that post.

Thank you Ralph what a great idea, I am sure we all have items like you that could be donated to youth groups in our own areas. With all the replies you have already I am sure your items are spoken for by now, if anyone in the Rochester area has items that they would like to donate to youth groups Walleye Searchers of Rochester gives items to kids at our annual Spring Seminar each year, if you would like more info on this feel free to shoot me a PM.

I have some usable older rods that I could send to anywhere needed, like those youth groups.

Also, some reels, but they could use some work.

PM me if this could help anybody.

Thanks for all the replies, guys. I think I have a home for them with a MPLS kids fishing program.
