    ….is a hard core fisherman!
I personally like the show…he’s fishing a different place 51 weeks of the year..in all weather…some of same places I fish.
    If I’m home..I watch.
A great write up in the Milwaukee Journal….

No, but that’s just me. I can’t stand Babe Winkelman either.

    I like the show too!

Gillespie saves time by usually doing only one take – this isn’t about staging things for the camera. It’s just about the fishing.

    Nice write up.

His “get the Frabil” and overly optimistic comments on fish size can be a bit much at times, but both the wife and I enjoy his program more than many of the others out there.

Gotta give him credit, and he sure looks like he’s having fun.

John has done well after the passing of his father. Remember watching his dad fishing the walleye spring run at Eureka dam.
Interesting to see John with the camera on and off. He knows when that camera is on, and really makes sure EVERYONE knows who’s his sponsors are. He’s actually a very calm guy when the camera is off.

You know he likes what he does. Nobody can fake that kind of enthusiasm. He gets on my nerves sometimes, but I watch his show most every week, especially if it is somewhere that I fish.

I’ll watch because he fishes a lot of local water. We can’t all go to Canada, Rainy, LOW regularly. I wish other shows would do this more…just sayin’

I get tired of the yelling but will continue to watch the show. He goes wherever the average Joe can go and just fishes. The information is the same week so a guy could use the info to catch fish yourself. Hmmm I think i have a zip lure somewhere

I’m not a fan but I seem to watch his show when I’m not fishing on a weekend.

He’s to loud and runs his mouth a bit to much for me.

    Best show on TV.

Staging seems very minimal, no fisheye lenses, they are always having a good time, and best of all every show is new!

I know John personally, yeah he tends to go off the deep end sometimes but he is very ,very involved with the sport of fishing. I have attended numerous events, adult as well as kids, he loves teaching and learning the art of fishing. Off camera he’s a little more subdued, he is genuine and an asset to his profession.

Seems like a nice guy and does alot of good but there is a joke between my dad and about his loud comments “DON’T LOOSE HIM, OH WOW IT’S A MONSTER”, he would get thrown out the boat. Iaconelli is another one. John beats out In-Fisherman anymore though for watching, just mute it.

Hard to beat the current shows he does and in our area too I can tolerate the excitement. He loves what he does and it shows. It would be a trip fishing with him.

I like his show & enthusiasm! Takes a little getting use to but fishing 51 different spots & 51 weeks all year long is great. Always only a 1-2 weeks old from filming date.

    I don’t mind him.

I do like the fact that his shows are current and mostly on local waters.

The one thing I do wish he would change is this: Learn how to properly hold a fish up for pictures or the camera. Another words: Stop pulling the gill plate out on the camera side of the fish and get your hands behind that thing so we (the viewers) can actually see how big it is.

One simple rule will cure this mistake for everyone. Left hand in the left gill or right hand in the right gill.
