Anyone have any suggestions on shops to talk to?

I need some fab work and welding done on my transome and knee brace. Hoping to find one in the north metro or south of mcgregor on 65. I’ve talked to a few shops and two of the shops will have the same out come as the guy who fixed last fall. The other shop has a good solution but he is out of town for a few weeks yet and i’ve got to scratch the open water ich.

I had some work done at George’s up in Ham Lake off 65 last spring. They did a good job and did it fast and reasonably.

Here’s a watch out on welding
If the hull is riveted on all seams and no welding anywhere, the boat has alloy aluminum for higher strength. When you try welding, the welding destroys the aluminum and it will crack, just like in the photo. Repairing with a patch, sealant and rivets will do the trick.. my background .. 33 yrs college level teaching of all metals.. good luck

I found a retired fabricator that i’m going to bring it to on monday. He sounds like he has some good ideas to fix it right and not run into the same problem i had last fall.

Well I just got a call and my boats done. Picking it up tomorrow and remounting the motor and heading out to find a ramp on the miss to get it wet and make sure everything is good to go. I’m hoping everything goes good and i can make it down to pool 2 or 4 this weekend.
