Bry…Pug has too much coffee in the mornings.

    The DNR cites hooking mortality.

They also don’t support MN resorts with statements like “if you want to use more lines go fish in WI, IA, SD or ND”. We’ve taken their suggestion and now spend our money in these other states and they all seem very happy to take it.

    Just to be clear…

When I was told to “go to IA if I wanted to fish cats with two lines” did not come from the MN DNR.

It was from a member of a Northern Pike group.

I struggle to see how it could hurt the resources, the limit will be the same.

There are only a few days a year where the average angler will catch a limit of fish at will. That means the rest of the year he or she is going home with less than a limit of fish. If fishing two lines was to be legal there is no way around it, there would be more fish harvested. I also think this would really mess with the special reg. lakes like MilleLacs, Leech, ….

With that said, two lines sure would be nice for those that open water troll walleye or fish muskie in the Fall. Personally my desire for two lines is outweighed by the negatives.

Two lines mean I will be more likely to stay on pool 2 after the sun goes down, and therefore farther away from BK. I vote two line.

I’m all for two lines. Then at least ice fishing would be the same as summer fishing.
