    Guys

Threads having been popping up with a lot of questions about changes to the various Lakemaster map chip products and I’ve been emailing them to the company one at a time for answers but that’s not very efficient when new questions pop up 6 times a day.

I’m scheduled to have a call with Lakemaster on Friday to go through changes to their various products and I’d be more than willing to present any questions that the membership might have. All I ask is that those questions be throw here as a reply and I’ll do my best to get an answer to each and every one of them.

Now that the Dakotas chip has had Nebraska added to it. What and how many new Dakotas lakes are there. over the just Dakotas chip? Or are the Dakotas lake lists the same its just the addition on Nebraska? Humminbird Im talking. Which Brings another Question. Are the lake lists on the Lowrance chips Identical to the lake lists on the Humminbird chips?

Is there a list of what different type of chips (HD/Pro/?) will work in which units?
In my case the LXC27C units.

Keep ’em coming. I’ll try to do my best to anticipate some of the more common questions but I know I won’t get them all.

Will a lakemaster chip work in a Garmin Nuvi and will it leave a track line? Also can you make waypoints? Thanks

Does lakemaster plan to fix the map in pool 9 where the area below the dam is covered by a “polygon” their term? Will there be any sort of discount or upgrade program for trading in chips with the problem?

When will the first Nebraska lakes start to be surveyed in HD ProMap format? We can’t wait to have some accurate lake map data down here.
Also, several of us down here are dying to see our lakes on some contour software as well. What kind of time frame can we expect for this?

For the Dakotas the primary addition is Lake Sharpe. As for additions to the MN chip, Lakemaster is working on a comprehensive list that will show which lakes and rivers are new this year versus last year’s chips for all the state products. They’ll be sending me that ASAP.

The primary addition to the Dakota product is Lake Sharp.

The lake lists for the Lowrance and Humminbird products are the same.

This functionality is unit/model dependent. Not all Nuvi maps will be able to provide this functionality but some can. Lakemaster advises that customers check with Garmin directly for info on Nuvi features for a given model.

Lakemaster says they’re not aware of this issue. They pulled up pool 9 on the WI and MN chips and no polygon was displayed. They’re thinking you have a “map category” turned on that is displaying a “government boundary” that is usually only displayed when non-default map category information is selected. Try turning off “map category” settings to see if the polygon can be removed.

If this doesn’t solve the issue, Lakemaster asks that you call them directly as they’d like to know more about the issue if it persists.

Many lakes in Nebraska have already been surveyed and are included on the new Dakotas / Nebraska chip as HD maps.

Here’s the lake list for the Dakota/Nebraska chip >>> web page

Additional releases from SFS – Contour Elite will likely happen next year.

Additional water will be surveyed on LOTW this summer but it is unlikely that all of the remaining water can be surveyed in one year due to the large area remaining. Any new survey data gathered this summer will be included on the next release for LOTW.

That area was surveyed this past summer and is included on that latest release of the Dakotas chip.

That’s correct. Or you could just buy the Legacy chip which offers the same hi-def map data without the 3D mapping capabilities which won’t display in your 27. The cost difference between the Legacy chip Version 7 and the Insight chip Version 7 for MN is about $80.

    Legacy – MN Version 7

    Insight – MN Version 7

Thanks, I’ll have to try and see what the actual visual difference between a “Pro” chip like I’m using now and a Legacy chip is in my unit.

An Insight chip defaults to Legacy display when used in a non-HDS unit.
