I am not a bass guy, but just got the new Bass Pro Shops in the mail. Their Nitro Z-7(18’8″) with a 150 opti pro XS is priced at $23,995.00. This seems very inexpensive for a fiberglass boat–what gives?

Bass boats sales nation wide are a lot higher than walleye boats. They can make/sell a lot of them. Economy of scale deal.

I know Tracker has lowered the prices on the boats this year. Maybe they did with the Nitro lineup as well.

That is alot of boat for the money. However it is a Tracker and they are known for building boats to sell at certain price points. They do this by saving money on construction and components. A Tracker/Nitro will also not hold its resale value as well as many other brands in the marketplace. If you need a boat for a few years and are going to discard it or you plan on keeping and using it for 10- 20 yers then it is probably a great value.

Boat manufacturers sure have pulled off a nice one when we think $24K is an unbelievable deal.

I’ll be buying a new/used vehicle tomorrow and I won’t be spending half of that.

Tracker and Nitro are 2 different beasts. Although owned by the same company Nitro makes some nice Bass boats. Hard to beat the speed that hull generates. As far as lost re-sale value that only applies if you compare names. Ranger vs Nitro………..yes Ranger will hold higher re-sale. But at some point you need to consider the initial cost. The Ranger will cost much more in the first place.

I have owned both. If I was going to buy NEW tomorrow you would have a heck of a time convincing me to go Ranger for the price difference vs performance difference.
