Bought a X-27 two and a half years ago. The transducer lasted two years. Bought a new one from Cabela’s last spring. On Monday it was no longer working either, would only read from .9 to 1.2 ft. The guy who waited on me at Cabela’s said they had a couple of bad years with tranducers, the lady at Lowrance said not true. Am I just having bad luck or what?

I own two LCX-27c’s (one for the last four years and the other for the past three years)
Over that time only two of transducer’s have gone bad for me. Both times it was because I’ve hit things with them. (a stump both times)
If you hit them at all with anything, including in the garage, then there is a strong chance they will be ruined.
Or maybe you just have really bad luck. Hard to say for sure.

2 LCX27C and one 510C all went bad with in two years, no rocks hit, no marks or mistreatment, they are junk.

When I called lowrance about then even they said they had trouble with them and the new ones were suppose to be better.
    We’ll see..

3 for 3 means I’ll buy Humingbird next time, especially after the poor cust service on these transducers.

hi everyone newbie here, as far a lowerance transducers, I wouldn’t have one and if I did they get one chance. If it goes bad then that’s the third strike and I buy something else..time on the water is short enough!

Wow, I have had Lowrance since the old X4 days (that’s a long time ago) and have only had one transducer go bad and I broke one on a rock several years back, I am guessing over the years that equates to about a dozen or so transducers. Sure hope my luck holds out

I am right there with you. I am on my 3rd transducer in as many years. I was talking to a guy at Scheels and Cabelas and they all said that everyone has been having issues. He had one customer on his 5th in a 3 years! Scheels can’t even keep them in stock at times. Lowrance told him that there was a couple of bad years but I am wondering if they are still having bad years?

I e-mailed Lowrance and they told me that there is no known problems with their transducers at all! Her suggestion was to buy an extra one for just in case! Are you kidding me . Well at least I got a responce! Now I have heard that all the new HDS models have had zero issues in the last 2 years. It must be a different transducer?

We’ll see what it does when I put the boat in the water this spring. Maybe we can make it 4 for 4!

    Join the Club!!!

I have replaced 2 in just over 3-1/2 years on my LCX-27C.

On my first transducer failure, Lowrance sent me a replacement for free just after the warranty ran out, of which I thought was pretty good at the time…

Although, dealing with the customer service person ticked me off!! After going through several accusations about not having the latest software updates and numerous improper settings, ALL OF WHICH I HAD, she conceded to send me a free replacement. Guess what?? It worked again

Second time around I was totally on my own.

There is nothing finer than going across open water of hazard free lakes like Vermilion at moderate speeds and reading the good old 2.1 feet deep.

Between transducer issues (which they don’t claim to know anything about) and the Endura disaster that took months to get working chips, I am done with them!

Please note: This was not a Lakemaster issue; Lakemaster was absolutely open, honest and great to deal with. In my opinion, Lowrance slammed the Endura product line into the field way too early!!

Sorry, I am now off my soap box!!

    Best of Luck!

I have been down this road too. I am going to put number 4 on my boat tomorrow night. 3 bad ones in 2 seasons. The guy at scheels told me the problem is they are not 100% water tight and water seeps in and damages the crystals.

Then with our mild winters, they freeze and are shot…

Any of you tried hard resets when you have transducer issues??

Most of the time over the last ten years…when I thought I had a bad transducer, I did a hard reset and everything worked fine.

I’d say the units are bigger POS’s that the transducers.

Fwiw I like the 27C, just wish I could keep transducers working.
    Anybody tried the Airmar transducers?
They get good reviews over on Walleye Central, I may try one of them next, the 510C still needs one.
