Did anyone that has been using a Droid go to the I-phone or vise versa? Just looking for a comparison of the two from real users. I love my droid but my wife wants the I-phone since she has a new one coming and I am undecided because I think she would like the droid better.

I almost did, but have decided to hold out for the Thunderbolt. It is 4G. I am told it’s a hardware upgrade/complete junk out to get an iPhone that is 4G. In my mind, I can’t justify $300.00 for a 3G phone when 4G is right around the corner.
My recommendation would be to wait til the end of February, let this stuff flush out a bit. Then make a decision.
February 10, 2011 at 1:45 pm #936028I can’t wait to try Skype on the 4G network to my parent’s PC in SD. Should be interesting….
February 10, 2011 at 2:11 pm #936039No, it’s my biggest concern about the Thunderbolt. We had TERRIBLE luck with the Incredibles and the corporate mail system.
February 10, 2011 at 2:21 pm #936052So, the Thunderbolt is Verizon’s answer to the Evo? Looks prety much identical.
February 10, 2011 at 2:37 pm #936069I agree, I am not going to get the I-phone until they have it LTE ready.
I have had the worst luck with HTC and LG phones. I believe the Thunderbolt is coming out next week? If I do not get her the I-phone I am going to wait for the Morotola Droid BIONIC LTE. It has a dual core with 1ghz and front camera. This was supposed to be released by May?February 10, 2011 at 2:39 pm #936071I agree, looks like a great phone with the Motorola name. You just gotta be patient till the June timeframe. Not sure I can be….
February 10, 2011 at 2:44 pm #936073Its just company money Koot. Buy all of them as they are released! you need to access them.
February 10, 2011 at 2:47 pm #936075Luckily my boss’s mentality isn’t far from this. I’ve got a new Xoom and phone in my future!!
February 10, 2011 at 3:12 pm #936092Well I can’t say I have owned both. Personally I believe Android is going to surpass the iPhone. You already saw a big jump in the 4th quarter where it clearly outsold the other OSs.
I think Verizon and Apple waited too long in negotiating to see the marriage do anything more than delay Androids accent to the top. I think most people will just be moving from AT&T with their iPhone, as opposed to people dumping Android phones for the iPhone. Had they done this before Android made such a footprint, say a year ago, it might have been different. The choice now is between 1 phone with a closed market or many phones and manufacturers and an open market.
As for me, I have my new in 2 deal up July 7! I can’t wait to see my choices. I was any early adopter with the Droid and felt a bit spited when all the other Android phones came out. Still my phone works pretty dang good for the first gen Droid.
February 10, 2011 at 3:19 pm #936096There are some slight benefits to you both owning Droids. Probably not significant to affect the choice, but for instance, me and the GF use Google talk instead of text messaging. If you have a limited messaging plan, that might be something to consider.
To add to my previous post, as excited as I am for a new phone and 4G, I can’t help but wonder if my bill will getting spiked for unlimited data.
February 10, 2011 at 3:45 pm #936104No way Android will surpass Apple, They are not loosing any customers by people switching from at&t to verizon. Plus I know almost all of my friends that now have android phones are dying to switch to the iPhone.
The fact that android has 20+ different phones with its OS and is still being beat says alot. One Phone One OS simple and easy to manage.

I don’t really want to start a peeing match, but switching carriers doesn’t increase market share. And what exactly does “One Phone One OS simple and easy to manage” matter?February 10, 2011 at 3:57 pm #936115Quote:

I believe android already did.
Wow, I guess I’m out of the loop, I would still contribute that more to the amount of phones they have rather than the strength of the OS, that first graphic in the article kind of shows that. The customer loyalty is much stronger with Apple.
February 10, 2011 at 4:18 pm #936122Doesn’t matter how many phones there are, it is the same OS, although their is version fragmentation. iPeople are historically loyal, so that isn’t a surprise either.
I hope before July outside faster processing, I hope that Android adds more hardware support. I don’t see that happening though. The only new thing being a barometer and I don’t know if they can get that into a phone.
February 10, 2011 at 4:20 pm #936123I agree, traditional Apple people are generally tried and true Apple all the way to the core. However, if those folks ever open their minds to realizing the limitations Apple puts on it’s customers, they will jump ship in a heartbeat.
Example: Flash. Apple refuses to support flash and it’s a major let down for folks like me. My two most recent examples. Last night, trying to upload an image to my Facebook profile, wouldn’t let me. Last week, trying to watch IDO videos online.
Where I see Apple as super strong is the screens. They have an amazing picture on their devices.
Just my two cents.

I disagree. They would just except it. To be clear, as much as an Android fanboy I am, I got nothing against the iPhone. It is a great phone, no question.February 10, 2011 at 6:51 pm #936177Tough to compare the I-Phone 4’s 2 year old technology to the Newer Android devices.
The I-Phone 5 I may consider down the road but we’ll see about that when the time comes!
February 10, 2011 at 7:16 pm #936188I’ve been lucky I think no issues really with our HTC phones but somethings could be better but they change every 3 months anyway
