I have a friend who is looking to buy the Taurus with the same 3.5 Ecoboost engine – he has researched the heck out of it and is going to buy it. He said the test drive was unbelievable. I like the Idea of 17 MPG city and 22+ highway. It looks like it has as much or more HP than my current 2003 F-150. I may have to think about the same upgrade myself with the cost of Gas heading for $5.00 a gallon.

I’m not sure what motors we got in our 2011’s. We just bought 3 of them for work trucks. I’ll check.

I do know the guys said the mileage isn’t near what is projected.

Have been looking at the new explorers and waiting to see the 4 cylinder version come out for a test. I have been a bowtie guy for quite a few years. Haven’t had a ford since 1994…

    EcoBoost?

Bleh, I refuse to buy ANYTHING that contributes to the “greenwashing” of this country. That Eco tag and green are some of the most overused selling points I have ever seen.

When you drive anything like you just stole it…..Just sayin. I know when I get something new, I tend to drive the heck out of it for awhile. When I get bored doing that then I tend to see much better MPG. That goes for cars and things that float.

When I see the word EcoBoost I don’t think of Al Gore saving the planet. I’m more like Tim the tool man and think about a V6 truck engine with twin turbos that cranks out 365hp, 420 lb-ft of torque, with 6 speed transmission and is capable of towing up to 11300 lbs with a 20% increase in fuel mileage. Sounds like an awesome tow vehicle to me. More Power!

    Haha. I’m sorta the same.

Found out all 3 trucks we got have the 5.4L engines. 15 mpg.

Eco as in “economy” Sure that could be a selling point to me. Eco as in Ecology and all of the “save the planet” punch phrases that have been tossed around ad nauseum the past couple years and my eyes will gloss over. It’s just that, with all of the “green” advertising that has been going on the first thing I think of nowadays is the save the planet crap.

I honestly never even considered that ecoboost could be refering to economy. And, your probably correct.

I bought a 09 F150 4door long bed W/5.4 in it. I have gotten up to 20MPG average about 18MPG in the summer if I keep it under 70MPH.
The truck has spent most of its time towing either a 621 Ranger or an enclosed snowmobile trailer. The truck is a towing machine. I have had no problems with the truck I have been running Mobil 1 since new.
I know Ford has a new 5.4 this year and is also making the 6.2 in the 1/2 ton.
Myself I would buy the 6.2 in the next truck.
    Good Luck

A web friend went to a ford testing session for the press. He is serious ford guy. was disapointed in all the ford engines. He went home and cancelled his order for a new truck(raptor) His impression was heavy truck tweaked out engines for mileage and greenery. He is performance minded though.
    I’m keeping mine too.
this spring its electric fan and lightning gears in the back.
He has 2 2002 f 150’s in the garage. decided to keep them and ordered a mustang.
