I’m new to the technique of pitchin jigs with ringworms and the like to shore and I was wondering what makes certain rip-rap any better than other rip-rap and how to actually fish the jigs. Any feedback would be awesome.

Excellent question FUTPW. I always check to see the style of Rock that the Rip Rap is made out of. I prefer actual a boulder type rip rap rather than some broken up Concrete. Reason being, the Boulder’s allow more hiding spots for fish, and the creatures that they eat, (crawdads etc.) Where as some concrete slabs just lie flat and don’t offer any cover.

I also check to see how far the Rip Rap goes out into the water. If Rip Rap ends at Water’s edge, it’s pretty worthless in my mind. The further out the better.

    My opinion.
