Anyone a mechanic? My driver’s side door wouldn’t open this morning on my car. Either from the inside or outside and I just oopened it yesterday. Does anyone have any advice? My car is a 1993 Buick Regal Custom of a four door variety. Thanks for the help!

any chance it was parked outside during the snowstorm? very possible the locking mechanism is frozen up. if you have a heated garage or can get it into a heated parking structure it might be an easy fix. wouldn’t cost much to try anyway.

I agree, this would be the first thing to try if it was outside during the wind/rain/snow you boys got down there.

Yep, warm building. If that don’t work, then you probably have broken linkage somewhere. Here’s another way to open doors…

Was that a new mechanic that drove it in,or was that before or after the mechanic fixed it…..

My advice would be to enter the car from the passenger side.

I’ve had that happen a few times Steve from living around here. It freezes then thaws then refreezes. If you can get in and start the car and warm it up that should fix it if the doors frozen, If not then look at the door locking knob and mechanism. I had a storm door latch sticking bad a couple weeks ago where you almost had to use a pliers to turn it and sprayed some WD-40 on it and it freeded right up. Powdered Teflon or graphite works too on the inside of the actual key lock.

My e-cab door has done the same thing twice this winter. Ended up letting it warm up for 10-15 minutes and it opened right up.

***Side note, don’t hit your interior door from the inside out when sub zero! Plastic trim cracks very easily. Lesson learned!

You guys are giving me flashbacks. I used to have a peice of junk Dodge Daytona. Everytime it got cold the doors would freeze up and often after getting them open they wouldn’t latch when you tried to close them. I drove many a mile holding the drivers side door closed. I sold that lemon for more than I paid for it. I did disclose it had an issue with that to the buyer.
