It looks like the first day of the Hurricane is going to leave us with only a couple of inches..

I am extremely glad I am not in Milwaukee this week.. that type of snow, with this Oklahoma hook, is a killer.. and when you get done with your drive then the plow comes and gives you another four foot by four foot by the width of your driveway, section to try and dig out..

what’s your forecast for this “big one”?

4″ – 6″ on the ground here in MPLS. Not sure how much more is coming but I do know we’ve got more than enough as it sits right now. My street looks like a snow tunnel and we’re running out of places to put any more.

I’m in Andover, and I would guess we got about 3″ and the sun has been out for the past 3 hours. I hope the rest goes south of us. After selling my snowmobile this year I can say that is a statement I never would have said in the past.

You’ve always had a shirt on in the past Mojo.

I left Everts this morning with around 1 inch. River Falls had at least 2…and now there’s at least 4.

But it’s still sunny and 95…in my mind.

10″-20″ here in Madison with some stout winds forecasted for tomorrow and wednesday. With the fulltime job and part time plowing gig, the next few days are going to be brutal.

One to two today and depending on close to the Lake Superior snow belt you are, it is supposed to snow for two days following. The two day storm that is supposed to hammer southern WI and northern IL, will not affect us. Ended up with 4″-6″ mid last week and not that much more will start to hinder truck traffic on non-plowed lakes (all are non-plowed) up here. Snowmobiles will become go to vehicles soon if we get more snow and no compacting weather.

4″ tonight and 8″ or more tomorrow, the weather forcast is coming on pretty quick. The snow was melting but its supposed to be cold for the next week. If we get what thier saying plus what we have on the ground now it will be around 16″ total.

I had our local map on when I originally posted.. and it looked like the snow was going to stop.. and it looked like that all day… except it didn’t stop.. now its not like we have 8 inches. but I would bet that we now have 4 to 5..

its just not good.. Heck it even looked like the sun was going to break through.. it just never did..

We got 2-1/2″ last night and heard the forcast this morning. 25 to 35 mph winds with gusts to 45 and 12″ of snow is predicted here. If everything gets here we’ll have 18″ on the ground with alot of drifts.

I don’t really believe the weather men/women. Have been told 5-8 in the past, only to get 1-2. Also been told 1-2, only to get 4-6. It’s just a guessing game for them in my opinion………..

The latest weather report says that 16″ is a real possibility tonight and into tomorrow. The winds are howling right now and snow going sideways with whiteout conditions, its been a long time since I’ve seen this much wind in a snowstorm. The latest warnings are for 6′ drifts or deeper a real possibility with roads drifted closed. I think this is one of those storms where bare ground is next to 6′ drifts, lots of wind right now and its supposed to blow like this all night and tomorrow. Ottumwa Iowa, S.W. of here about 90 miles has 7″ on the ground also with alot of wind.

Abouot 5″ on the ground here so far, but the heavy stuff is just beginning and is supposed to continue for about 8 hours. Forecast is for anywhere between 12-20″ when it’s done here. With 30 mph steady wind and gusts to 45, it’s gonna be a long day tomorrow digging out. Already have a 6′ drift in the road just down from my house. By morning I think the whole area will be locked in. I knew I should have waited to buy that new boat…..

Man were gettin it over here John, I’ll bet its snowing 2″ too 4″ an hour, steady winds out of the north at like you said, steady winds and no gusts. Its snowing and blowing so hard its like someone is pouring flour infront of a fan. I seen one truck in the last half hour on a main road, its been along time since I’ve seen this much at one time. I can see two flags from my house and thier both straight out with no dropping in them. I haven’t even seen the wind blow this steady in a summer thunderstorm, steady and not gusting, a solid 30 mph anyway. I can see about a quarter of the brightness of the street light on the corner 100 yrds away through a solid cloud of blowing snow going sideways. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen it snow and blow this hard, its really coming down. I guess it is gusting at maybe 40 too 45 sometimes. The FW has been going out once an hour and sweeping infront of the door so we can open it and it has been up to the bottom each time, I told her it won’t open in the morning.

Right now, we are mostly getting wind at about 40 mph. It’s blowing the snow into some serious drifts by my place though. Just got done plowing the road to my pole barn for 2 hours, and by morning, I won’t be able to find the road.

Its snowing like a freight train with dense sheets of snow blowing sideways. I just had to get up and look out the door because of the wind gusts are so high that it got my attention. We seen a flash out the back door because a transformer blew about half hour ago, lights went out and then came back on. This is one for the record books or very close to it.

Its quit snowing as hard as it was, for awhile last night it was really coming down. The winds still blowing but not as hard as it was. The snows still going sideways but its hard to tell if its fresh or from the ground. The local news said theres drifts in the rural areas over 8′ with atleast some roads drifted shut. Dubuque county along the Miss. has pulled thier snowplows because they can’t see too plow, complete whiteout conditions. I had to push the storm door open to push the snow away, can’t make alot of heads or tails on the depth of it. Were snowed in right now and no traffic is moving.

News is reporting 10″ for us, not sure how anyone could possibly measure it. This wind is incredible with the light snow. I usually argue about the weather stations over stating things by calling them a blizzard. I think they are actually right with this one. It’s a blizzard out there!

Im not sure how much we got here as I haven’t heard the forcast. Im all drifted in and going out to shovel. The plows haven’t been down my road yet, they still must be working on the main roads but haven’t seen or heard them yet and I’m a 1/2 block away. We got somewhere around 10″ I think. Everythings closed excepting where they can make it in to work. Theres more snow and drifts then what I’ve seen in the last 15 years.
