    Hello –

Me and a group of guys are looking to go to Canada in June to fish for some walleyes. We are looking for a drive-in resort. However, we are trying to keep it cheap and still catch a good amount of walleyes. We are looking for a resort with good fishing, reasonable rates, and average boats. I know I might be asking for a lot considering we want to keep it cheap. Anyone have any suggestions? By the way when I say cheap I am hoping for $500/person for a week and hoping that will include boat rental and a tank of gas per day? Maybe I am dreaming????

    Advice on resorts?

    Thanks in advance.

Check out La Belles Birch Point Lodge on Rainy Lake. Not too far to drive, nice cabins and decent boats. Rates are pretty reasonable. Oh, and the fishing is good too.

Check out Steve and Andrea at http://www.tallpinescamp.com/ on Lake Wabaskang.
Our group tries like heck to make it every year, we love the place. Cabins are clean and nice, boats are also very good, with newer Yamaha 4-strokes. I think their rates went to $550 per person/week, but that includes boat and unlimited fuel. Very fisherman friendly resort–a June trip should provide some AWESOME walleye fishing, for both numbers and size. Last week of June you’ll risk bumping up against the mayfly hatch, but other than that it’s a perfect time to be there…seriously, I don’t plug people often, but these two are worth it. Come in late August and say “Hi”, we’ll be there!
    Have fun!

I’ll put in a plug for a place we go every year for the walleye opener, Thunderbird resort about an hour and half away from Thunder Bay on Lac de Mille Lacs. Everything you need is available there, cabins are basic and clean and the place is owned by a guy from Wisconsin–Go Packers Kerry isn’t much into technology so his web site just has the basics but we’ve always been happy with his service. Great fishing on LDML, we had a 46 fish HOUR once with 4 guys in a boat! Good luck and have fun wherever you go.

Chad, lodging is what’s going to get you there. I would look into Pasha Lake Cabins. They have a spot here in IDO under the Canada section.

    Chad,
Here is a link to Little Moose Lodge. I have been going here for the past 10 years. I will be there again the 3rd week in June. The fishing and facilities are great. The boats are the best I have ever seen at a Canadian camp.

Chad, I can’t give you much for advice on the cabins..BUT, Coming from a guy that had a “group” going up there last year please be sure that everyone in the group has a very very clean history with the law. One of the guys I was with had what I consider a minor thing happen 9 years ago and we ended up fishing in MN for the week. It may not be easy to for you or a buddy to bail on the trip but I would bring it up now so you don’t find out something at the gates. Just sayin’

    Good luck!

Check out Bonny Bay Camp on lake wabigoon. Actually they will be here for the all canada show. Might be a great time to take a look at the resort. I have been going for the past 10 years. Good fishing walleye, perch, muskie, northern, smallies, and now crappies. And if your up there the first week of June I will show you aroung the lake and make sure you catch a lot of fish. The cabins are super nice. I have a group of 10-12 every year. The PWT tourney was held on this lake 2 years in a row. The boats you get with there package are 50 horse 4 stroke lund boats with electronics and TM.
