Nice information… However, it suggests that many folks were not paying attention to the Taco Bell commercials a few years ago…

“Attorney Dee Miles said attorneys had Taco Bell’s “meat mixture” tested and found it contained less that 35 percent beef. “

What’s an “extender” and do I want to eat it?

The funny part was that they needed to test it to determine it was mostly “other” ingredients. You can tell that just by looking at it or eating it. I bet the main ingredient in there cheese isn’t milk either…

I remember one of those places in the suburb I grew up in failed a health department test for having levels of human bodily fluids “above the allowed levels” in their meat. I still cant eat at the Bell.

If I am not mistaken either Taco Bell or Taco Johns is owned by the same company as Pizza Hut….I am really leaning towards Taco Bell though. If so the source for the meat would be about the same, just fifferent flavorings and maybe binders.

I am more concerned about the binders. Kind of ironic as I find Taco Hell food does anything but bind me.

Tricon Global Restaurants spun off from Pepsico 10+ years ago. When they acquired A&W and Long John Silvers, they changed their name to YUM Brands.

KFC is rumored to have 6 legged chickens too.

YUCK! lol. How about the Chinese resturant in Duluth that was caught shooting pigeons out the back door and throwing them in the food? I guess that actually sounds good compared to some other stuff mentioned here, and the taco bell deal lol.

I always wondered about that. I worked at Shakey’s Pizza when I was in High School. I saw the whole cuts of beef and pork get ground on site and the spice mixture added. The first time I went into a Pizza Hut I noticed on the menu it refered to “beef topping and pork topping” where the Shakey’s menu it said spiced ground beef and pork sausage.

I wondered if the Hut’s toppings were not meaty enough to be called ground beef and sausage and that was why the toppings were refered to so oddly.

On a positive note, I heard rumors Shakey’s is returning to the cities soon!!!!

A&W? I liked them, but always wondered what was in their chili dog…hummmm

Just as long as White Castle stays above all this, nothing compares to their burgers..

Although if done, their fish ain’t all that bad…and I’m assuming it is fish their serving???

Remember the MacLean that MacDonalds had for a short time?

They actually used sea weed to keep it from falling apart ie binder.

10 years? I wasn’t off by all that much after all. There’s only two places to get good fast mexican, the Taco House of Boca’s DT St. Paul or Zantigo in WB. I really don’t care what they put in there, I like it!

    Tidbit of trivia…Zantigo

Zantigo was owned by KFC/Pepsico, when they acquired Taco Bell they dumped the Zantigo menu and name as they didn’t need two Mexican style restaurants.

Roughly 5 years ago, two brothers in St Paul that worked for Zantigo approached the owners of the Zantigo name and asked if they could have it. Since it was a dead name, the two brothers started the new/old Zantigo restaurants that we see today.

I believe there are about 7 in the Metro area and Western WI.

The owners are a couple great guys looking to bring back the old “come back taste” of the Zantigo menu.
