When we talked earlier today… I was on the way to meet with my accountant. I’ve got less of a problem with paying what’s owed than with the mountain of paperwork and money I spend to get everything filed. What a waste! There’s got to be a better way.

Mine are a nightmare to get ready also. I’m invested in an LLC that pays taxes in 5 different states. Just getting things ready is a lot of work, then the 50 pieces of paper to sign just to send them to the tax folks is enough to make me scream. I used to do mine as early as possible, now the LLC waits until April 15th to pay in. I really don’t like waiting that long.

Turbo Tax Premier or whatever it is called. I got sucked into spending another $30 because I had a bit of investment income. Pretty easy…but I won’t buy it next year. It is more geared towards you guys with businesses. Tax laws are not fair. And the Middle Class is not what I thought it was.

Definately spoiled here. My father’s a tax accountant / CPA. Throw all my paperwork in a file, put the file on his desk, couple calls to confirm misc. stuff, and done. Small check to IRS / state, or small refund. He’s helped tweek my payroll deductions so I neither owe or get much back. Best part, it’s free. Now I’ve got to get that deal extended to his partners that buy him out when he retires.

I had to fire my tax man last year because of incompetence. Does anyone have recommendations for people that do taxes in the Rochester MN area?

We rolled the wifes old 401k / Pension into a Roth… Taxes are going to hurt but 30+ years of tax free growth.

What middle class? The spread is only going to get larger also.

Got hosed last year for the first time

We made some changes this year and will also have a credit for new energy-efficient windows, so I hope to do OK this year. We shall see, though

As my grandfather says, “In the government’s eyes, you have a job, you’re rich, so send the check.”

Here is a thought, if you want more people to pay attention to how much money your progresive government takes of your hard earned money, have them revoke automatic deductions and force everyone to send in a check each month for what is owed versus this once a year thing, that would be an eye opener for about 90 % of the population is my bet…

Your grandfather is a smart man… In my eyes I am less “rich” as my wife hasn’t worked since July 2010.

Yep, whoever came up with that scheme (or should I say sham) removed the citizens from the checks and balances we have set up in our “representative” government. If we paid that way I guarantee you we wouldn’t be in debt and have to be looking over our shoulders at China right now.

Policy makers and pundits really don’t realize that the money the government spends is real and it isn’t just produced out of thin air. And by sending a check in they would have to be real careful about spending, otherwise the people would revolt.

Haven’t done mine yet… we also have an LLC and hire them out. Since I am not a millinaire, I believe according to some posters from last year, my taxes should have gone down. I know I kept a paystub from the Bush years pinned in my kitchen cupboard and a year later, I kept more of my money .

I really dont think there is much of a middle class anymore. The rich get richer and we keep working to make them richer! I was reading some where that 5% of the population has 95% off the money and for the rest of us we get the 5% of the money thats left over. Its only going to worse, sad to say. Until everyone decides to stand together and say we have had enough, we will not get change.

A eye opener is a under statement. It would be anarchy and what happened in Arizona would be a every day occurrence. Some very smart people set up they way our system works now. People like my wife are extremely happy getting a check at the end of the year and have absolutely no idea how much that check cost her.

If you did a Roth Conversion in 2010, you can either pay the tax on your 2010 return or half on 2011/half on 2012, just an FYI.

Thanks, I knew that and spent 2 months planning before we pulled the trigger due to the proposed expiring tax credits, etc. Still trying to figure out if it is better now or later. Leaning towards 2011 / 2012 as our income will be down presuming wife is not working, tax rates seem to staying steady and another credit coming in July.
