Took a drive today!

I decided I’d head out for a little drive this morning to check on the lake- so at 3:25 this am, I left my house for Lake Superior. Pulled into Two Harbors at around 6:45, and by 7:45 I was fishing, not ice fishing, but casting from the breakwall. After about 20 casts, I got a hit on a gold and orange Little Cleo- nice 26 inch laker!(sorry, no pics) I fished for 3 more hours with nothing else to show for it, so I headed back south.

I knew that my wife would have a bird when she found out that I drove for three and a half hours one way to catch one stinkin fish, so stopped at Fitgers and got her some artichoke dip and a growler of the Big Boat Oatmeal Stout It worked like a charm- now she wants to know when I’m going to get her some more!

It was cold as ‘ell and windy to boot, but worth every second I was there!

Now that sounds like a great day. Love those road trips even if you only come home with one or two.

It was awesome! The last time I fished Superior was 20 years ago trolling with my dad-sadly he passed three years ago. But I know he was there with me- we always had a saying when the fish weren’t biting. He’d say “come on fish” then I’d repeat it in my little kid voice. Yesterday I said our saying twice, and BAM! Fish on! One of the best days I’ve had in a long time!

Wow…maybe one of these days, I’ll just do that too.
