The I Pilot is a great addition to anyones boat… Spot Lock, Auto Pilot, Cruise control, plus setting your own trolling routes and speeds. Awesome!

Its so good I sold my kicker!

    Tom,

It’s good, but you can pry my T8 from my cold hands once I am dead.

It is well worth its price in MY opinion. So many features that save time and make life a lot simplier while out fishing.

If you can swing the price I would for sure go for it!!!

I also give it 2 thumbs up. I have much more free time to fish using the features it offers and it puts more fish in my boat once I get a good track programmed in, or find the right speed and set cruise control, or find a good spot to “anchor”. The 24V battery life is great too.

The only thing I’m not impressed with is the advanced auto-pilot feature (gps-controlled autopilot) but the normal autopilot works well.

Welcome to IDO by the way

I sold my 2004 T-8 last summer for $1500 here on IDO… My I Pilot can do any trolling I do with ease and zero gasoline. I don’t pull boards in big water.

My T-8 had less than 20 hr on it in 6 years. They sure are dependable though

I added the I pilot to the Terrova and consider it money well spent, I do have a T-8 also and considering the amount of trolling I do, it’s not leaving the back of my boat..:)

I doubt you’d regret buying the I pilot, especially if you use your bow mount a lot.

Has anyone had any issues with the Spot Lock feature? I had heard that when the I-Pilot first came out that there were problems with Spot Lock not working correctly. Maybe that was a bug that has been fixed now?

Spot lock works good in current or large waves. In no current and very little wind it is more of a pain than just tossing out an anchor. It over shoots the spot back and forth until I shut it off and toss an anchor. Every other thing about it I like.

Steve, I have been watching this product since I first heard if it in July/August of 2009. I have read of forums from Main to California, Canada to Australia.
Trust me; I was consumed on the subject!!!!!!!!!!

I pulled the string and purchased it in March of 2010.

If you want to take a little time to read look up my posts under my name and take a look, here is one.

I have no regrets! Twice I drained my batteries, and still do not know why. There are a few understands to the how and, whys this motor works.

You have to get out and learn it. The man, who seems to be absent from this site helped me understand this trolling motor concept quite a bit before I made the purchase.
With my upgrade to a 36 volt as well as the I Pilot, I would not hesitate.
    That is my opinion.

I purchased mine as a whole new unit and complete new wiring in my existing boat.
I was for it then, and 4 others that had followed mine and have seen it ion use have made the switch as well.
I’m no promoter of it or fishing product, but I’m happy with mine!
I could go on and on, but, I think it is the cats meow.
