I’m going to purchase a 2004 Tracker Targa 17SC with a 115HP Optimax. Any of you guys have experience with this rig as far as the props go? Which prop would be best for this set up? Thanks for any info and advice!!

    D4M,
Just me again. Your dealer should be able pinpoint the correct prop pitch and dia. for your 115 Opti. to get max performance. Since Tracker only uses Merc. this should should already be in their books! The only thing that I would add is, make sure that you spend the extra money and get a stainless steel prop. The first little thing you hit, either bottom, rock, floating wood etc. you will have paid for the difference in cost. Plus, there is a slight performance difference as compared to aluminum. Sound like you are getting a nice boat, don’t scrimp on the screw!

Thanks WR! I noticed Mercury has come out with a 5 blade prop that they are boasting about. Quicker out of the hole, quicker to plane and better fuel economy. I think it only comes in stainless steel. Will probably be the way I will go, just thought I would throw it out there for some of you more “seasoned” boaters. Thanks again!
