Poor Service

After reading Brett Clark’s review of the Showdown Ice Troller, I decided to order one. I went to the Marcum website and placed my order on 12/9/10. It said the items were in stock.

I’ve e-mailed them to find out where it is, because as of the 23rd its still not here. Come to find out my e-mail was deleted without being opened. When I saw that, I called and got their machine (naturally!). I left a message that they needed to call me ASAP.

Is this an isolated incident or should I cancel my order with the factory and go get one from a retailer?

After everything I’ve heard (good) about Marcum, I’m really dissapointed that this is how I’m being treated!

Any ideas on how to remedy this?

I just checked my credit card statement online and those @ssholes charged me on the date of purchase! And I STILL don’t have a locator!

If these jokers are pulling this crap, they need to be pulled off of IDO fishing as a vendor. I trust this site to have reputable advertisers, not scam artists!

Cancel your order and order one through Thorne Bros. You can’t beat their customer service.

I just cancelled my order and wrote a scathing e-mail to the company. If this is how they treat paying customers, maybe I need to buy someone elses product!

i would cancel my order, buy someone else’s product, and spread the word of my experience everywhere.

You could go to a Fleet-Farm and get it on sale this week for $30 off……
The Pack is also on sale …..$6.00 off…….

I have to agree that Marcum’s customer service is horrible. I have a call and an email in as well and no answer as of yet. Took nearly a month to get a response last year. I am getting tired of hearing the excuses people make for them. We are very busy at work too and I don’t get to let our paying customers wait for a month before I respond to them. If I do then I wont have a customer to respond to. If they are SO BUSY maybe they should hire some more people to help out.

I love my LX-5 but support like this is unacceptable in my book. This will be weighing very heavy on any of my next fishing electronics purchases.

had same issue a couple weeks ago. one day I just kept calling until I got a live person…but let me tell you that took a lot of calls. ordered a new power cable for my VS820, opened the box and it was the wrong cable. paid $20 for the part and shipping and ended up cutting and soldering a connector on it myself to make it work.

no complaints about the product…they just need to improve the service.

After wasting the better part of an hour TRYING to get Marcum’s customer service department to answer the phone, I called my CC company and disputed the charge.

If I won’t get my locator, they won’t get my money.

I really think James needs to think about pulling their link off IDOfishing. They might make good products, but they should NOT be the place to buy it. Maybe a brick and mortar store will be my next stop, IF I decide I still want their products. I think an actual store would be more helpful in the event of needing customer service later on down the road.

Never had any issues with my vexilar and the only issues i have had with my eskimo auger is a spark plug and new gas tank when it fell off the wheeler(not there fault oops ) great customer service getting me the parts and for a 20 year old auger its still going great but thats just my opinion

It unfortnately seems the list of companies with poor service continues to grow, Alumacraft and Lowrance are at the top of my list and it seems Marcum is now on that same list.

Crying shame as a little bit of good customer service goes a long ways.

Considering the alternatives on the market, you’d think they’d be bending over backwards, but it seems many companies have a “take your money and run”, attitude.

    To bad.

I feel the same about Lowrance.I believe they will not support repairs on my 332c.The sound does not work, and the power switch does not like to get wet.
