After talking with a rude Comcast customer service rep. I made the jump to Direct TV and took advantage of one of the promotions that we all get in the mail once a week! (What a waste of paper …)
Did I make the right move??? RR

    RR:

I have been with them since they were available. There have been moments, but I am still with them as they offer what I am looking for.

I switched from DirecTV to Comcast last Friday. I called Monday to cancel the Comcast. We really thought the DirecTV was that much better (DVR, on-screen guide, etc). Kept the Comcast phone and internet, though.

On a side note, the Comcast folks on the phone have been soooo nice. I commented to my wife that they were the nicest CS folks I have dealt with.

Had Direct and really had no problems. Wanted a free DVR so I called them and was told you have to be a new subscriber to get one free. Told them I will be a new subscriber to Dish and it didn’t seem to bother them. Made the move and have not been sorry. Got a new HD TV and signed up for HD for lifetime……free with Dish. I believe you have to pay for it monthly with Direct.

I’ve been a Comcast subscriber (TV & Internet) for quite awhile and have never had any real issues.

I just switched to DirecTV about 3 months ago and I smile every time my bill comes. I’m getting pretty much all the same channels although I don’t get OLN (Outdoor Life Network) which I used to watch ALL the time.

After switching to DirecTV, I called Comcast to cancel my TV service and then inquired about options for my internet. Next thing you know I’ve got a 1 year deal on internet service through Comcast that is saving me more money.

Bottom line for me was cost and my combined cost of DirecTV with 2 HD receivers + Comcast internet is now HALF what I was paying Comcast for TV and Internet.

So far I’ve been happy with DirecTV, although I had to clean the dish off twice during the storm that dropped 18″ of snow in the Cities. Thats the only time I’ve lost the signal. Guy that did the install was very professional and accommodating as well. Gave me his personal number if I ever have an issue as he doesn’t live that far away from me.

Switched from Direct TV to Dish a couple years ago because Direct TV kept offering huge discounts to new customers and nothing for the folks paying their bills every month. When they found out I was leaving, they practically had a conniption fit. Said we could have given you that price. I said, but you didn’t and you never even offered it. We have been real happy. Seldom lose a signal.

We had direct tv setup thier dish here two months ago because we saved $40 a month getting tv, internet and phone service, so far so good. They said all we had to do is ask for the promotion every 6 months and they would honor the price we signed on for or a better price depending on whats being offered at that time, but we would still get atleast the sign on deal.

I switched a few years back to directv after a nitemare with dish network have never had a problem with direct except for receiver upgrades and one windstorm but they fixed it fast with no charge! Beware of Dish network as u own the equipment and if something goes wrong you have to pay for it Direct is a leased equipment and service is free cant beat that!

We got Directv after over 20 plus years with Charter.. and if I knew then what I know now, I would have had them from the first day.. they have been outstanding. and if you ever need something, you just ask for retention and tell them that Charter or Comcast came to your house , and suddenly, ITS , what would you like? a new receiver? DVR? what ever.. free HBO or SHOWTIME,, or Starz.. yep.. $10 off per month.. yeah, we can do that.. but don’t ask the first week or the first month.. wait six months or so. or a year.. and then.. its all there for you.. trust me it is..

just always, be NICE on the phone.. never raise your voice or swear.. compliment the CSR.. and wish them well. Trust me.. They will take care of you.. ALWAYS.

as for the guy who has to sweep his dish.. try PAM.. but in reality, check your signal strength.. I have NEVER had to sweep snow off my dish.. and we have 28 inches right now..
your signal strenght is not correct.
