Are walleye tournaments dying a slow death?

Thanks Big, see I did miss something!
I know the reasons are many, but I wonder how many phenomonal guys would have stayed in the tournament game if there was a viable future? I am sure all that have left have done it for their own reasons, but think there is an underlying thread here of unsustainability-which goes back to sponsor money, exposure and attraction to the general public. You and I can appreciate a guy fishing a 8 inch redtail in 30FOW and finessing a 10lber–but to the general public–yawn. Think the Kink’s said it the best with their song–“give the people what they want”.
Otherwise, seems the majority walleye tournament fisherman might be in the same boat at the starving artist.

One more contributing factor is the folks who would give anything to just have a sponsor patch on their shirts. This leaves very little for those who try to make a living out of it. Here is a video posted on another site that is funny and sad all at the same time.

FWIW… tourney fishing is “NOT” a spectator sport… Contrary to popular belief, if you watched a tourney, start to finish, you would put a gun in your mouth… highlights like take-offs, big fish being caught, guy falling in the drink, big bag weigh-ins, that is what people like to see. For those trying to make a living out of fishing tourneys, good luck. For most full time pros, fishing tourneys is what they do in their free time, between doing sponsor promos…

Now that link pretty much states how far things can degenerate.

Do you guy think walleye fishing is ready for it 1st reality show? Look at the variety of reality shows on TV now. Cup cake wars, mario lopes having a baby, ect. I think there may be a shot at a walleye show taking off. Im really surprised the bass guys havent jumped on board with all the drama that seems to follow their events.
