Best digital camera?

I am needing to buy a new digital camera for the wife. I have owned 2 Canon cameras and the last one was a lemon and we need to replace it. The feedback I am looking for is what brand have you had and what is good? I am not against the Canon but after the last one I am wanting to stay away.

We were looking at spending under $200 and I was leaning towards a Sony or Panisonic but I have had no expirience with either of them.

    Any feedback would be great!

I have a Sony DSC-W120 for in the boat.

I look for something that can take good night shots and it fits my bill perfectly. The settings are changed very easily and the movies (assuming you are close enough) turn out very nice for this type of camera.

The FW and FD both have Sony’s too. Not sure which model though. The Daughters gets banged around the most and it still works great…although she might have lost it by now.

To answer your original question, the reason I recommended the camera I did was because of the zoom and the ease of use of Fuji and Kodak cameras. I personally feel that Nikon has some of the nicest cameras but they’re not always the most user friendly. Kodak and Fuji (same company) have always made easy to use cameras.

The other suggestion is to make sure to get a fast SD card. I’d look for a minimum of a 2gb card that’s a class 6 for faster processing. I just got a 8gb class 6 at Shopko for something like $14

Good site for camera’s, we have a Pannasonic that takes nice pictures, but it’s 4-5 years old so I’m sure it’s way outdated.

Sorry but I opted for the Nikon 3000.. but listen to this.. I got the “last one” at Sam’s club for less then $400.. it was like $318 or something like that.. as for a pocket or lower end camera , I am in the dark.. Sorry.

but right now.. you should be able to buy a really nice film camera, for next to nothing and keep it in the boat.. an AE-1 or a F-1 Canon should be fairly cheap.. with a 50 lens or a 28 lens for up close work.. put it in a zip lock bag or a food saver bag.. ( hot deal $25 per IDO fishing).. and leave it in the boat.. try and find some Shorts… meaning 12 exposure films. and get them developed at the end of a day or a week..

sorry but I can’t be more help.. I am sure that others here know more ..

I bought the Fuji S1800 about two or three years ago. I have showed it to friends and three of them have went out and bought one. It is a great camera with many cool features. I bought it for over $300 a few years ago like I said, but the last I saw it was like $170. For the money a great buy no doubt.
