First off I have nothing against Menards here- I go there often–but I really hate this rebates deals thats going on there—and am sure that goes on other stores too–went there a week or so ago and picked up some rebate items and grabbed rebates at counter there–made copies of recpeits when at copier and when I was filling out rebate forms that when I noticed you cant use copied recpeits~~ I mean come on!! so now if I want rebates on the different items I bought i need to go back to Menards and get recpeits printed over from there–what a bunch of crap–why cant stores just give you rebated price and at end of month send it in to manufacting of item and get rebate that way??? I didnt know I needed 4 oringal copies of recpeit–and if went back just for that–time you use gas to go back to get it done– not saving anything!!

Not sure why your menards is different but all the ones I go to the rebate receipt is part of your store receipt and I just cut that portion off of the receipt. Plainly marked rebate receipt.

They give you a rebate recpeit to send in when you buy something, it is on the bottom of your regular recpeit.

Hudson WI is the same way. But the FW (the rebate queen) told me a few years ago to always as for a second receipt if they don’t offer one up on check out.

The one that really annoyed me was the 20 lbs LP tank rebate for $3. Reading the fine print, a household was eligible once per year.
It wasn’t that I couldn’t get the $3 back so much as they were advertising the $3. off rebate so it LOOKED like it was the least expensive place in town to buy LP.

I could have gone to the local gas station for exchange my 4 LP tanks and saved the $3. in gas going to Hudson.

PS on rebates of a good size, I’ve been using the alarm on my cell phone to remind me when I should be receiving them. I forget a lot in 4-6 weeks.

Plus…I discovered that apparently the tanks are SHORT FILLED for “Safety Reasons”.

If you used copied receipts you could send in for the rebate and also return the item, getting your money back and also recieve the rebate. Just my thoughts.

If you use debit or credit cards, you can swipe card on a machine by customer service and print out any receipts from purchases made with that card.

I firgured out all that when I got home–I had 10 things or so that I bought and only one repceit and needed like 5 recpeits for send for rebates–I might just try sending copied recpeits in and see–just saying with all the elcetroic stuff now days–be a better way without sending thing or that in for rebates–why not right at cashier??

The very idea of a “rebate” is that the retailer or manufacturer is counting on a percentage of people not turning in the rebate because it is too much of a hassle. On a $50 rebate the return rate is less than 60%. On a $25 rebate the return rate is much, much less. Yet 100% of people are swayed by the offer of a rebate when making purchase decisions. And retailers count on this.
