I’m tossing around getting this for a Christmas gift.

I haven’t looked on-line at this point. Just wondering if anyone has any experiance with it.

Are the Key Chain types enough to stop an attacker?

    Any brand/type better than others?

(and no, I’m not going to be using this on walleye guys fishing my catfish spots)

I think they probably work fine…if you can get a shot to hit their face/eyes and they’re not all hyped up on drugs or whatever.

So to keep your friends from using you bait..ya, self defense not so sure.

Plus, shooting one of these things into the wind isn’t a good idea…trust me on this one..:)

Better than nothing, but there’s better things to use imho

You’d have to be pretty close to the target. If you’re that close I’d say forget the spray and have a key extending out between the index and middle finger with the key ring firmly held inside the fist.

Lots of those pepper sprays are not super strong and then as mentioned you have to have it actually hit the target area. If an attacker has a plan, the spray probably won’t be much defense. Take out an eye….they’ll think about that and a positive ID would be pretty easy to give, eh.

I realize a .45 in the purpatrators nose would have a better effect.

This is for a young lady for Christmas and one of those something is better than nothing deals.

Just have them open and toss a jar of sonny’s! That’d make me turn and run

I was in the process of getting one for my wife. We have a few police officer friends and they suggested no on pepper spray or tazers. The way it was explained to us was the perp is prepared for a battle and will be expecting something to happen to them. The victim usually is not prepared for the spray. The victim almost always gets blasted as well becasue the chemicals transfer during the tussle. The victim then most times becomes incapacitated as a result of the defense they used. We were also told not to buy a handheld tazer becasue the tazer can be taken and used on them. The key idea was mentioned as well as a small compressed air horn. My wife carries a very loud whistle and a small compressed air horn with her. The whistle attaches to the key ring and I am not sure where she keeps the air horn. I guarantee if either of these are blasted close to a person they will drop you. The horn might just blow your ear drums completely out if the perp gets close enough.

BK — not sure of the brand but I got one for my wife that goes on a key chain and it has a spray I want to say up to 45 feet for being effective. I picked this up at Gander when my wife was walking at night. I also believe they have replacement cartridges as well. It was around $50 price point if I remember right.

BTW – Don’t forget you need to leave the pepper spray at home if you are driving to Canada, or flying anywhere.

For a young lady I’d say a 380 or 38 would be the ticket!!!!

    I can’t count the times when she’s lost her…

    D/L in her back pocket
    Car Keys
House Keys (we went digital years ago because of this)
    Purse
    Credit Card
    Phone
    Camera

There are some people better off left unarmed.

BTW this is a very very distant half brothers cousins niece.
