what app are you using to tether! a verizon rep suggested easy tether which is a one time fee and its suppose to do everything. i use the lite version and seems to work fine!

pdanet is another to try on the droid if you’re looking to tether. I’ve used it on a number of different computers and the speed still amazes me.

Is there additional fees through Verizon to use your phone as a tether?

yes and no john, assuming you already have a data package, programs like PDA net are not detectable to their system, as the phone being used as a modem (tethered) . Verizon will happily charge you and let you do this, too.

I guess I see it as I’m already paying for unlimted data, why should they be able to tell me exactly how I used it, plain and simple its easier on a real computer, and I won’t actually use much more data.

You should be aware that verizon does have a 5 gig cap on their data, and exceeding that may cost you more money.

We have two of the MiFi devices for our office. They are awesome. The speed is amazing. However, my boss just got the Clear device, it is 4G. It’s hands down the coolest thing since sliced bread. Speeds are unreal.

I think I’m going to break down and pickup a 4g phone, I feel the need for speed.

Nick don’t spend the money yet, I know a fact the south metro towers haven’t been upgraded yet.

    DUDE! GET ON IT

(Picked up a 4G EVO from Sprint)

SO close I can get 4g within about 2 miles or so of my house, but I have 16 meg wifi, so really it doesn’t matter.

Just pulled a quick speed test inside work for giggles, 9100 kbps in St.Paul, not tottally sure how accurate that is, pulled about the same at home, so that might be the phones limitations.

Anyways 4G rocks, if I had to spend extra to tetther I think it would be money well spent.
