So what does it mean when they start chirping like a cricket? Everytime I go on ido I have to listen to it. It’s not all the time but a lot of the time.

It means you might be spending 1200.00 or more sheckles soon.

Pull the unit out so you can check the coils and compressor and condenser. Cobwebs and dirt can get in and around the rubber bushings that dampen vibration and can start talking at you after the build up starts to harden and rub on the mountings. Sometimes these noises are just annoying and not real serious. Other times they can equate to $$$$.

I had the same problem. Defrosted the freezer (and fridge), took the panels out of the freezer and discovered that the blower motor was worn and rubbing on something..
About a $30. fix if you do it your self. I am not a fridge repair guy- but a screwdriver and the thaw and a part did it.

There is a fan that comes on periodicly that is part of the self defrosting part of the freezer, that is what chirps on our side by side. Been doing this for a long time, comes and go, very anoying for sure. The fix mentioned above sounds good but it’s so full all the time, but it may work.

Ours chirps when the water filter needs replacing or the door isn`t closing tight enough.

Unplug it and push it outside. You for wont hear it then, but you may smell it next summer.

Just replace the little fan motor, a cheap fix. The bushings get dry and add to that some dust bunny soil and in time, they start to chirp, some louder than others. It’s a DIY deal, you can probably get the motor online at one of the appliance parts places.
