    Hello –

So we have been debating about getting a Nintendo Wii but after doing some research I have been reading a Wii 2 might be coming out within the next year. I know this isn’t the best place to post this but thought maybe there are some gamers out there that might know something. Also, for anyone who has a Wii is it worth it or should I wait? Look into a PS3? Thanks,

    Chad

I haven’t herd anything about a new Wii coming out but you would have to expect its coming soon with the new technology being put out for the ps3 and xbox.

Honestly I think a ps3 would be a wiser investment. Has a blueray player, can run netflix without a disk. WAY better graphics. PS3 Move is the same technology as Wii but much more advanced, only an extra $100, it uses motion sensor technology with a camera rather than just a sensor bar with the wii.

    Hope this helps

I have a wii and my kids have a blast playing it! if you have smaller kids and looking for more family friendly games, i think a wii is the way to go, I also have a few other wii games that the graphics are pretty good on, I have played call of duty modern warefare on it and it seemed to be ok, a little wierd the way they have the controller set into the gun. I also have an xbox elite, (arcade) version and it isn’t so bad niether, but I would recremend getting something with a hard drive in it, then you can download the games and have better gaming and you can system link and play online with all 3. I think to set up the wii to play nextflix is going to be a few extra bucks, don’t have mine online,

    hope this helps

I would base it on the type of games you want to play.

The Wii had a great advantage in it’s wireless controller but both the XBox and the PS3 have come up with equivalents.

I recently purchased Call of Duty Black Ops and Cabelas Big Game hunter and am very dissapointed in the speed of the game, it really seemed like the Wii couldn’t keep up with the graphics.

From now on I will only buy games that have minimal graphics requirements like the Mario Bros games.

I’m definately thinking about getting an XBox or a PS3.

Thanks for the advice so far. I have been reading about the PS3 move and XBOX Kinect and it does sound like they have the edge on the Wii. Now maybe just need to decide Xbox or PS3?

in my opinion, the only things decent on the Wii is Mario Cart, Netflix, and the cheap-o sports resort. Beyond that… it is pretty useless. I bought one and now I regret it. Would MUCH rather have gotten a PS3 or XBox.

You really need to decided what you want out of it.

Wii, solid nintendo, games, good family games, wireless internet built in, games and additional remotes cost about the same, biggest downside IMHO is lack of HD output, on my 50 inch plasma, not so impressive…. Manageable.

Xbox/PS2 better gaming platforms, way more powerful, better graphics full HD, lesser made for kids, with Kinetic about $100 more than a wii. IMHO more bang for the buck.

Both a good systems and ways to go, but xbox/ps2 will play all thr new games and play them well, games like call of duty are pretty weak on the wii, games like Mario party and wii party IMHO make up for the dazzling graphics with really good game play and no real need for super graphics.

IMHO go play with them in the stores and don’t worry about a wii 2, at this point.

I have a Wii & PS3 and also had an X-Box 360. You have to look at what type of games you want to play. My children use the Wii, Nintendo has always had great games for children. The PS3 is mine, the kids are not allowed to use it, and all the games I have are for teens/adults. The 360 was ok, but I personally didn’t care for the feel of the controller, keep in mind, I own each model of the Sony Playstation and I am very use to the controllers for them. If you are looking for more than a gaming system, like Blu-Ray, then the PS3 is the way to go. And as far as new systems coming out, it doesn’t matter what you buy, cause there will always be something bigger and better just around the corner. I have heard rumor of a PS4 coming out over 6 months ago.

Don’t waste your $9 unless you like film festival movies and crappy old movies. Very few and far between for good selection. I would tell anyone to buy anything BUT a Wii, the kids like it but that is it. The kids that I see playing PS3 like that as well and its more diversified as far as games are concerned, IMO.

The streaming Netflix comes with the standard package of DVD’s by mail. The Selection may not be great right now but its improving every day. Plus instant streaming is the way things are moving, 5 years down the road netfilx could be all instant streaming.

well contrary to these opinions.. about 8 months ago, I asked the same thing here.. and every one said BUY ONE..

and I finally did.. and we like it alot.. I didn’t lose the 20 lbs that some one said I would.. but it’s fun.. it works great.. now, no I haven’t invested in a ton of games..

I don’t have the beans for that.. but we make the most out of what we have.. and my kid bought us Toy Story Mania.. which is like the Walt Disney World ride.. and we play it for hours.. its not exactly a physical jump up and down ride.. but we really like it..

the only thing that I have been disappointed is the Sega fishing game..

however there is a BPS game that’s suppose to have high marks.. and I am waiting to see reviews on the Rapala fishing game..

plus I hear it may be on sale on BLACK FRIDAY.. check Google for the Black Friday ads… my wife said it was listed somewhere..

I wish you well in your decision..

For “serious” gaming – XBox or PS3. For “fun, family” gaming – Wii. You can’t really play serious war or sports games on Wii, but games like Mario Bros, Sports Resort, etc are fun on the Wii. All take the Netflix software.

ps3 is where you should spend your money. It is the only system that offers blue-ray and will be the only system that offers it as Sony owns the technology. The ps3 is also a better machine, feels more like a entertainment system then a video game system. In addition, the “move” add-on is really fun. There are a variety of games for children of all age groups. just my two cents.

I also own 360, and wii.

I am learning this. Tiger Woods golf is fun in the advanced swing mode and it has my realistic slice. However hockey has been tough to get used to. And I just got COD Black Ops and I am really boosting other peoples kills.

I am finally getting used to Black Ops. I get about a .3 to .4 Kill to Death ratio now per match. That’s 3 kills to every 10 deaths.

Now that I am used to the controls, I really like them. Not sure if getting the hang of it is a good thing. Many wasted hours ahead. Who wants to join the IDO clan?

Maybe I should start a gaming group here before everyone gets annoyed.

I wonder if many people play BF2 for the PC anymore or CounterStrike.

Agreed it is all about what games you plan on playing and the age/skill of the players.
