So I need to buy a new battery for the vexilar and aqua vu. Went to Gander and they had a 12v 7amp and a 12v 9amp battery. What is the diffrence between the two? Is it just longer battery life? I think they are the wildlife something or others, not a vexilar battery.

And price. Depending on what they’re charging, you can sometimes buy two 7-amp batteries for the same price as a single 9amp battery. I carry backups all the time and don’t worry about battery life as much as I used to. That said, if the price is close, jump on the 9-amp.

I’d replace both with one from Vexiar. Go with the 9amp for sure. Others here will say just buy one of the cheap blue 7 amp ones from gander. All I can say is that I have a Vexilar one that is going on 6 or 7 years now and it last longer that a brand new 7 amp blue one from gander. I can not count how many cheap 7 amp ones that it has outlasted. I know from now on I’m going to buy all my replacement ones direct from Vexilar. The are located in Bloomington and will sell direct. Not sure who makes them for them or why they last longer but they sure do. All my friends who have had a 9 amp from vexilar will all agree. Just my .02 worth

X2 – my vexilar is now going on year 11 and hopefully still going strong. I charged it up about a month ago and used on open water and all was well. I have a back up just in case, but this one is sure going a long time. I try to run it down before I charge each time and that seems to help

Buy the one from Vexilar. Couple bucks more, but worth it.

The main difference between a 7AH and 9AH battery is:
a 12VDC 7 amp hour battery can supply a 1 Amp load for 7 hours. A 9 amp hour battery can supply a 1 amp load for 9 hours. If I remember right My Vexi takes about 0.350Amps so theoretically it would run 7/.35=20 hour run time. Regardless I cjarge it after each use. Since batteries slowly discharge and don’t just quit.
