On Thursday night someone did a little “shopping” in our neighborhood. I hear from my neighbors they got various items out of their cars. A couple dollars worth of change out of my truck. The worst was the FW left her purse in her car and they swiped that.

I get the feeling they were dumb kids as they left the GPS and other electronics alone in our vehicles not to mention once in our cars they could have opened the garage doors and had access to many dollars worth of tools, electronics, power sports, etc.

Anyway if anyone happens to find a black purse in a trash can, ditch etc we would love to get it back. FW obviously had credit cards, ID, etc in her purse. Not to mention a couple personal items that she holds dear to her heart. Her wallet is a moss green in color.

My mom believes in Karma. Hopefully it’s true and these POS’s will get theirs someday.

Way back in high school (1977 to be exact), we all had CB radios in our vehicles. I had a 1974 Ford F250 and I was on my 3rd CB – first 2 were stolen in the high school parking lot. I had a buddy that had a CB that went bad and I took it off his hands and soldered a half dozen or so fish hooks to the back of it. I mounted it under the dash, and when the perpetrator tried to rip it from the bracket, he had 4 hooks into the meat of his hands and was conveniently stuck in my truck until I went out for lunch.
I got suspended and a doctor bill to pay – he got off the hook. But…. I was a hero for a while!

Makes you have faith in our gov’t doesn’t it! You get violated and somehow it’s your fault. Not sure who you want to beat down first, the criminals or the douche bag gov’t officials who support/protect them.

Don’t give up looking, there are alot of eyes on the sight and many of times thieves aren’t very smart people. Hope you catch the monkeybutts, maybe some day they will start having anchor parties with convicted thieves!

This experience did prompt me to do something I’ve been wanting/needing to do for some time.

Go through the whole house and video everything of value with serial numbers for insurance and police if it ever get stolen or burnt up. It’s actually fairly easy in this day and age of digital imaging.

Sounds like kids looking for bubble gum money.

Gregg, love the “hook” pun! It would be hard for me as a parent to be too hard on my kid for doing something like that. After all, the only person it could hurt is someone that’s doing what they shouldn’t be doing.

I might even as gone as far as contesting the Dr. Bill.

What really irks me is that I’ve got a fully stocked gun room, not to mention a rather large pistol in easy reach of my sleeping area and nobody to “show” it to. Little punks should come in around mid-night and try to help themselves to my stuff.

You would get along great with my dad then Brian. He said the idea was ingenious, but that I should have used razor blades so the guy could get away, then look for the bandaged up guy at school!

Personally, I like the idea of the “suspect” caught with his hand in the cookie jar.

After all, a good fisherman has plenty of hooks and very few razor blades.

As far as taking a life for thief of personal property goes…that would be a life changing experience for the unlucky kid and your family.

Now come in my house unannounced…well there are trade offs.

Me too and I pray to God that I never have to use it or anyone has to see it for the wrong reason.

Have you ever checked out the activity going on in your neighborhood to watch for trends? The criminal activity in my neighborhood is still light but it seems every year there are just a few more incidents. Check your neighborhood.

Here is an idea you can use. I did this years ago and it works wonders and is harmless. Go to the drug store and get a little container of gentian violet (spelling). In powder form it looks like golden dust. It is almost invisible. Put a dollar or two in a plastic bag, put in a little gentian violet and shake it up. Lay it somewhere obvious and the little thieves can’t resist it. Trouble is when you get it on your hands and try to wash them you turn PURPLE! I mean big time and it will not come off. It is perfectly harmless but your thief is identified in spades. Just tell the cops to look for the purple handed thief. Anything they touch when their hands are wet is purple, face, arms, clothes ect. Best part is, it is perfectly harmless. It is the old purple medication vets used to use for minor skin infections or cuts on cattle, dogs ect.

I was teaching school at the time I did this and the kids were stealing out of my desk. NO ONE EVER TOOK ANYTHING FROM MY DESK AGAIN.

    Isn’t science wonderful.

Hi all, it was mentioned that the GPS was left in the vehicle…up here I heard of this happening too. Apparently the buggers would sometimes turn on the GPS, find out where ‘home’ was and take the garage opener to gain access. If you have a gps, don’t program in’home’. Good luck in recovering the stolen items.

The cars were in the driveway and the garage door openers were in the cars. They could have gotten in that night. I’m not going to loose too much sleep over it.

    That’s what insurance is for.
