I’ve got an antique rod/reel that I want to display. I’ve been playing around with some ideas, but can’t come up with anything I like. Looking for some suggestions. I’ve got tools and ability, but can’t come up with a good plan.

    Thanks,
    Ryan

I’ve seen some glassed in lighted boxes with other antique lures/equipment adorning the box. That’s always looked cool to me…

My buddy was able to turn a rod/reel combo into a lamp, that was a neat idea…

Underneath the top of a coffee table. Glass top. You could light it if you wanted.

    Ryan,
I have a couple of old spinning rods/reels that I have hanging at the cabin. I just mounted 2 plain coat hangers above each of my patio doors to display them. Sorry for the picture, its the only one I had with me. It is definitely nothing fancy, but allows me to display them without taking up extra space we don’t have.

It’s tough coming up with a display case for a fishing rod. You won’t find many coffee tables longer than 5 feet, much less 6 – 7 feet long.

    BZZSAW,

Thanks. That’s kind of what I had in mind (hanging).

I would think you could do something very nice with it hanging on a wall with or without a case. Might be nice to combine with another element – landing net or couple lures of a similar vintage, etc. Think about if you want to add some special lighting too.

I think I’d try to do something with driftwood. Always looks cool. Fished pool 4 today and my keeper was a nice piece of driftwood I snagged and for a few seconds had my hopes up. Did manage two in the the 22″ range, released also some very nice crappies. Pitching jigs. All fish are still swimming, brought my driftwood home.
