Nothing great to be spoken of as far as the bite, slow but steady, of course that always won the race Spent most of the time vertical jigging in 18 to 20 fow. Picked up a nice limit on Saturday, all 15 to 18 inch beuaties! Headed back out on Sunday. Went looking for that hog, but sometimes he’s harder to catch then a leprachaun riding on the back of a unicorn Anyway, ended up heading back to the sauger hole and finished the day strong. I want to give a shout out to Dean, as always. He let me test drive the new Legend Extreme 6’3″ MXF and was that a pleasure to fish with! I had a very hard time handing it over at the end of the day. I would strongly advise that if you like to vertical jig, pick one of these babies up! Also got to meet the legendary Thomas McGursky, or to the IDO community Tom Gursky, and he arrived with a present. A new to me 6’8″ Legend Tourney MXF. I tell you that rod feels like a peach and I’m sure that it will be another best friend in my rod locker! Thanks Tom and it was a pleasure meeting you! The river is still high, but I figure a bad day on P4 is impossible, even if the big girls don’t cooperate. That being said, my partner in crime did get a PB on Pool 4. Caught himself a 33 pound carp pitching a current seem with a 3/16th and a Moxie. Not the PB we were looking for but boy was it a tank. What we like to call an Iowa Salmon. Anyway, good luck to anyone who journeys to P4 in the coming weeks and as always, it was a pleasure meeting you guys. Best of luck to you Tom, I hope to be seeing a post with you holding up a 33″ walleye and not a 33 pound carp Take care and until next time

. Jesse, sorry about that, I was working on about 3 hours of sleep. To say I was tired is a bit of an understatement. It was great meeting you as well and my buddy and I do plan on heading back up in a couple weeks, so I’ll make sure and get some more sleep. Also, I think we need to petition for larger avatars, that way we can recognize each other. I have a sweet mug shot I’m sure I could get from the courthouse!

I have shimano sahara reels and using trilene xl and lookin for something better, looking for a good flouro carbon use to like iron silk, seemed as though braided line almost made these rods to sensitive when fishing shallow.icejunkiePosts: 39November 8, 2010 at 3:44 pm #908507Quote:

Actually that’s not true. The eyecons, triumphs and mojos are all built overseas. The new eyecon rods everyone is so hung on are made in mexico and st,croix now sells more rods made overseas than in the usa by volume. MExi-junk!!!!! I used to be a st.croix supporter and talked to one the st.croix high command at a sports show where he told me the only rod that would ever be made overseas was the triumph. Lies all lies. Do not support this company’s move to making rods overseas. Every time you buy one you’re moving potential jobs offshore and showing this company that they can pad their bottom line and drink the koolaid anglers will line up with wallets open to make it happen. They could have expanded capacity in the USA!!!!!
Yes I’m upset bout this. I saw this coming. Asked about it at the sports shows and was told not to worry. Keep buying our rods. We’re proud to be a made in america product line. blah-blah-blah. If you want overseas rods just go to cabelas. You can get a better rod than the eyecon for less money. Trust me now that I’m off the Stcroix bandwagon I’ve fund other rods that are actually better rods for less money.

I believe they still make models here in the US it tells on their website.I want buy a St croix made in Mexico either.November 8, 2010 at 4:50 pm #908528Hey Steve,
Sorry I missed you. My kid was out there Saturday and you might have seen him fumbling around handlining. He swears he is getting the hang of it and I am sure he is but I would have been pitching plastics and hair if I had been there. Maybe it will work out and I will see ya in a couple of weeks when you come back up. You have the Pool 4 bug now so I know you will be a regular soon and being short on sleep will be a normal condition. Sounds like you had fun and caught fish—-life is good!!!November 8, 2010 at 5:08 pm #908536Quote:

Please tell me one product that is completely made in the USA?
Are you sure the high end St Croix rods have American made cork and guides?
What about the reel seats?
Does it suck that work is being shipped overseas? Yes.
It’s a new world market now. The sooner people except it and adapt the better off we will be.
