Bought a tow tector to protect my boat while traveling. Items being stolen at landings from parked vehicles or trailers is becoming way to common. A person could unbolt the tow tector in a mater of seconds if they wanted to swipe it. Anyone have any ideas how to prevent theft? Or is there not much to worry about?

You could drill a hole through the receiver and bolt it soild. Thats what I did with mine.

Due to the construction of a true towtector, unless the hitch is stolen from the reciver or the brushes from the tracks, I see nothing to be concerned about. I use a locking pin to secure the hitch in the receiver and leave it there all season. Of course, where there’s a will there’s a way. All a lock does is keep the honest ones honest jerr

Not to get off the subject but why did you go with Tow Tector instead of Rock Tamers? I am trying to decide which one to get.

I tried both brands. Once out in SD with my NEW Skeeter boat I got on one of the gravel roads up around the big lake. The rocks would hit the Rock Tamer and bounce down and then up against the painted trailer. I pretty much wrecked the paint during that one trip. Since then I’ve switched to Towtektor and find that the rocks get trapped, fall from the brushes and not bounce once on the ground. Once again I learned an expensive lesson by trying to go “on the cheap” jerr

Thanks jerr, that makes sence. I don’t travel gravel but if I ever would, I can see how that would happen.
