Has anyone had an issue with their car completly going dead while driving? I checked battery cables. They are tight and not corroded. Any comment?

Sounds like possibly the black(computer)box Chappy. That happened to me once also…when they go…you stop going

Were you able to restart it?

Completely dead, as in no lights, radio, etc? Either way, you’re going to get a hundred different opinions on here. Best just to take to a shop to have a tech diagnose it properly.

My son has a 99 Grand Prix. His just stopped running. It would turn over but not start. His problem turned out to be a resistor located under the windshield washer bottle in the fender. The resistor has something to do with the fuel pump. We replaced it and it ran fine. ($60.00 part from dealer.)You disconnect the old one ,hook up the new and relocate it in a more convenient place.

If it is electrical then check the battery. The battery may show 12 volts but will not be providing enough amperage. Try striking a wire across the terminals. If there is a weak arc the battery is bad. Another thing to look for is if it has side terminals the connection to the lead post may be bad.

Joking, right? Chappy would do this!

Just kidding Chap! It’s been a while!

I would load test the battery before striking wires across the terminals…That’s just me though. Any Oreilly or Napa should be able to do that for ya.

I had this happen to my chevy. All I did was pull out the the “fuel pump relay” clean the prongs and push it back in and it started right up. I now keep a spair in the golve box. Here is a sample from ROCK AUTO parts. Hope this helps OLY. Related Parts

Had something similar happen once, battery shifted and shorted out the car dead until I wiggled the battery, stupid luck to find the problem, and can’t exactly remember the details, something like 14-15 years ago.

If the battery is old ( 3 to 5 years) try a new battery.
