Leave it to the Vikings to make a boring afternoon before work interesting and comical: The last line is the BEST

Jay Glazer of FOX reports that, although coach Brad Childress has informed the team that Moss has been waived, the move has not yet officially occurred — and Moss (as we reported earlier) still has not been informed of the move.

And here’s the part where we speculate on what may really be happening.

It looks like Childress has acted on his own, presumably after the scar on his soul from the T.O. episode of 2005 (Childress was the offensive coordinator in Phily at the time) began to throb like Harry Potter’s lightning bolt. (Look, I’m not a Harry Potter fan. But anyone with a kid under the age of 16 knows about Harry Potter, and also has at some point heard about the scar on his forehead that throbs whenever Darth Vader shows up, or something.)

The rock-scissors-paper hierarchy in Minnesota hasn’t been clear since the Fred Flintsone look-a-like named Fran Foley was fired for falsifying his work history. The fact that Sage Rosenfels (a Rick Spielman favorite) was traded in favor of Tarvaris Jackson (a Childress-Foley-Rob Brzezinski draft pick) suggests that Chilly has the juice.

Or maybe he really doesn’t, and maybe Chilly has tried to dump Moss as a way to bring to the front burner the persistent rumors that Childress could soon be dumped in favor of defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier.

If Childress can set this up as a Moss-goes-or-I-go decision, then it won’t look like the head coach was run out of town for, you know, sucking at his job, but that he took a stand based on principle, and that others in the organization didn’t share his views about not having Moss on the team.

Either way, the current situation surely has Vikings fans longing for the simpler days of DUIs, Whizzinators, and sex-and-booze cruises on Lake Minnetonka.

I’m sure Glazier also reported Randy did not fly back to Minnesota with the team yesterday. Vikings stated he was staying in New England to be with family today (which is a off day).

Problem is Randy’s family is either in South Carolina or Florida.

This is a power struggle to run the team between Favre and Childress. Moss would have sided with Favre if Favre was feeding the ball to him. With Chilly and bobo Bevells calling the plays Moss wasn’t going to see the ball. They were using Moss to clear out the safeties and then throwing underneath to Harvin and letting a few clang off of Barrian.Moss was soon to become more trouble then Childress could handle so he had little choice, Moss had to go. When Randy had his little press conference yesterday that sealed the deal and Chilly pulled the pin. To run the conspiracy further Favre will now start calling of of the plays, thus throwing it in Chilly’s face. After all what can Childress do? Favre got him his contract extension although I’m thinking he thought he might be coaching more then one year.

That whole organization is a joke. I’d be embarrassed to be part of it.

Well when you starting letting the inmates run the asylum things like this happen. What do you think Harvin, Peterson, Hutchinson, Allen and others thought when the players had to go beg Favre to come back? Favre had his reporting date for his contract to renew, if he was late the Vikings should have started to fine him with a release date published. When he didn’t report he should have been released. But no, Chilly begs him because he knows his hand picked guy ( T-Jack) can’t get it done. Now you have Favre out of shape and with no reps, has no timing with the receivers. BTW, think Rice’s injury is as bad as he makes you think or is he pouting for a new contract? Geez, where did he learn that?

Bottom line……….Chilly brought this down on himself. He saw what Favre did to the Packers, but like all other egomaniacs thought he could control the guy. Guess what.

For the record……..I believe Rice played this out this way. He could have had surgery right after the season ended but instead waited until before the season started. He will be back by week 12 which is required by the NFL.

    I love conspiracy theories!!

Ok, Yahoo Reporting that Moss “giving up” on this play led to his being placed on waivers.. Something don’t smell right. First of all you think Moss is going to give up on a chance to do an endzone dance? He do it to send a message to Chili? Is Favre blaming Moss for his chin and playing the puppet master by having Chili release him?

I was looking forward to Moss and Rice and everything nice. But watching this team implode might be fun. I mean we have little chance of doing anything else as exciting this year.

If I were Ziggy I cancel the waiver, fire Chili and any assistant loyal to him. If any coaches stayed I would promote one to a head coach in name. Then I would let Favre run the offense and let the defense be run by a defensive coordinator. Now wouldn’t that at least be fun to watch?

What should be going on in Ziggy’s head…. Ziggy should be thinking that Chilly needs to be gone and Frazier takes the reigns at head coach for the season and lets Favre run the show on offense while he still takes care of the defense (a defense that needs some help as we haven’t touched a quarterback in 3 games!). Changes need to be made before we start losing other key players because of the Minnesota Vikings “System”.

At least there was some production with Moss in there. It may not have been from him directly but a little less pressure and he had two guys on him a lot of the time. It’s not like harvin got a lot better the last two weeks or AP started running with more gusto. Pullin one more defender back did help. Like moss doesn’t know he’s double covered?

It was doomed when they let sage go. Because it didn’t make sense. And they didn’t get new linemen on either side. The lines didn’t get it done last year so why would they this year? It’s such an implosion. It’s hard to believe. They have mostly the same people they had last year yet 2&5 and tied with the lions for last place.

I guess it isn’t a big deal but they were fun to watch when they didn’t stink.

I may be the only guy in MN disappointed with this. Your comments were SPOT ON! Moss DID his job! Did he break a long one? NO! But he did bring 2 defenders on him alone! And unless there are 12 men on D… that means someone is open. I don’t care if it is Moss, Harvin, Berrian, Shianco, or whoever else! If Harvin caught a pass and that pass was caught because there were 2 defenders on Moss… well, then MOSS DID HIS JOB!

Chilly needs to be gone!!! The very next game needs to be announced that Frazier is the head coach! If not… chalk up another loss!!!

That’s why I was so looking forward to Rice and Moss. Every play the coverage would have to either role the dice or risk AP all the way. And the tag that Moss gives up on plays. Well plays run to his side he is a decent blocker.

Well the first Vikings game I ever watched was the Kansas Chiefs in Super Bowl #4. I have been waiting patiently for forty years watching, hoping, that someday I would see the Vikings win the Super Bowl.
If you have been a fan for that long everyone has watched this team make the most absurd dumb (as$#&) moves and mistakes that can’t possibly explained.

    When will it end.
    I don’t think I can watch anymore.

    Go Packers!

I’m not a chilly fan but I’m hearing reports Moss was getting to be a real distraction again behind the scenes. Not too mention his remarks to the press. Whether he is right or wrong in his comments, it was inappropriate conduct. I heard he also declined to fly back with his team from NE, another dismissable excuse to get rid of him.
Point is, I think there is much more behind the scenes stuff we don’t know.

I have a feeling Favre had something to do with letting him go. Either that or as I think I said, Chili is looking for a scapegoat.
