I am going to be putting new windows in my St Paul home. Does anyone have any positive or negative experiences with window companies. Any recommendations would be great.
    Thanks

    Replacment wdws or full wdws?
To be quite honest you can get full replacment for what many companies like Renewal by Anderson will charge for only changing the sashes and panes.
Remlacments are like a band aid in my eyes, you will still have potential air and water leaks from the original frames and flashing that are NOT removed but instead reused. That means the entire unit is only as good as the original instilation, flashing and all. Only as strong as its weakest link.
    Something to think about. -Mark

I am looking to take out the old wood single pane windows with the rope and weight system and put in double pane double hung windows with wraps.

Very honestly, you get what you pay for. We put all new windows in our last home and loved them. I did the work myself(a few friends helped too) so it took a few weekends for me to get them all done, but well worth it.

Andersen Windows is what we went with

I have heard good things about Pella too-

I put Simonton windows in my house and really like them. I thought they were pretty resonable too.

Anderson, Marvin, Pella … all good brands with lifetime warranties. Like mentioned, the “install” is probably the most important. I see stickboy was mentioned, lots of happy IDO’ers have had his work… haven’t read a bad word yet Good luck and have fun !!!

My Dad was a contracter his whole life. He put in a lot of windows and said it was hard to beat Pella or Marvin. Anderson is Ok but not what they used to be.
