Boat Trailer Hitch for Lawn Tractor

I have a L110 John Deere lawn tractor (17.5 hp) that I would like to use to move my 18 foot Ranger bass boat into and out of the garage. Do any of you have pictures/drawings of a hitch I can fabricate and attach to the back of the tractor in order to get the hitch ball up high enough and have a strong enough platform to enable me to use the tractor to move the boat? I am thinking of sketching something and then having it made somewhere, but just thought with all you folks out there, someone smarter than I just might have already come up with something.

    Thanks in advance,
    Ron

Guys, please ignore this post. Apparently I asked this question some time ago on here. Must be old age messing with my memory. Of course, if anyone has any new ideas, I would appreciate the info. Me and a buddy can move it up the slight incline to the garage, but it is a load. I am only 5 foot 3 inches and 145 pounds. So, I think if I could come up with a design, the tractor would be able to handle moving the boat.

    Thanks again.

If you have the room and a pickup you could try putting a ball on the front of the pickup. My dad did this years ago so he could put his boat in the garage also. It was just easier than backing it in from the road. Just a thought.

Here are a couple photos of the hitch we use to move the boats around our yard. This is mounted on the back of a lawn tractor. If you need measurements, shoot me a PM or email.

You sure that little JD can handle all that?

Ditto what AllenW said! I have a similar tractor and there’s no way those size garden tractors should be moving a boat around, even for short distances. They’ll break under the weight.

We use an old, old Cub Cadet. It works very well and we move some heavy boats – but on mostly level ground.
