Friday Sept. 24th, right after the big rain event we headed to Lanesboro to do a little Whitewater Canoeing……the river was ragging more than I’ve ever seen before!!! It was sweet! Pretty rare to get this kind of water to paddle in SE MN.

Some of you should recognize this stretch from Lanesboro to HWY 16 take out…..usually great trout fishing when the tubers aren’t around.

Check out the you tube video we made.

What kind of camera/helmetcam did you use?

That looked like a blast! I’ve fished that river a hundred times if I’ve fished it once and I barely recognized it with that much flow.

The camera we use is a GoPro HD helmet hero…..Pretty nifty little device for a couple hundred$$. I’ve got some new duck hunting footage from this weekend I’m going to upload in a little bit. Wake boarding, downhill skiing, mountain biking……it works great for all those action sport activities.

Also, I should mention we had the proper boats, safety equipment, and paddling experience to take on this style of water. There was nothing that would be considered over Class II or III in this stretch……the boats we used were designed to handle up to Class V rapids……and my stern paddler was an olympic class WW paddler.

People paddle the Grand Canyon in canoes every day….this was nothing compared to the WW out west…..just not something we normally see around here.

Very, very cool Jake! Great pic of the spillway, and the video was great. Loved the overhanging tree.

Well it did for a couple young bucks like you guys. I’m thinking I’ll just watch the video on more time and call it a day.
