fishing this lake early in the ice season on shallow water, we jigged up off the bottom to two feet with a consistent fluttering motion that seemed to do well. In the fall, I’d look for a slab crappie bite around shallow structure. With all the hatches of midges etc. the past week, hard to say how the gills will cooperate but they shouldn’t be too hard to locate…slow and ultralite after any fronts. If nothin else works you can always hook up a piece of summer sausage from your noon meal like we used to do when the bite dies in winter. If they won’t respond to waxies or wasps, move to small leeches or chunks of crawlers towards dusk. The new artificial Berkeley gulp leeches are murder on sunnies but they’re only good for a fish or two so have access to extra jars.Good huntin’
