Any one have any info on the Chippewa River on how high the water is? I was planning to fish there with my cousin on Monday.

What area are you fishing? I live in Durand and its roaring pretty good, not up to the streets in town yet but it will be in a few days.

It broke a whole island loose in EC… Huge trees and everything floated into the North Crossing bridge…

The river is expected to crest 4.5 feet above flood stage in Eau Claire on Sunday afternoon. All access to the river in the area is closed. The river has come up 8′ since yesterday….

Depends upon where your going. I am in Durand and it is going to crest Sunday night/Monday morning at @15′ which is about the 6th highest flood on record. Eau Claire is going to crest earlier. Go to http://water.weather.gov/ahps2/index.php?wfo=mpx. for the latest from the weather service.

I am not buying that. I fished next to that island Tuesday night. It is all gravel and runs exposed all the way under the bridge already in a normal pool. In fact there is a huge underwater bar that runs about 300 yards down the south side of the bridge that splits the river into two channels and that is essentially part of that island. I will investigate for myself when the river comes down but I think this story has legs that wont hold up….

PS – there is a water main that runs along that bridge in the river bed that the city closed while this story broke. I am guessing that if the island moved then the west side of Eau Claire would be awefully thirsty right now
