Over the last couple years I have been trying several different kinds of gloves for late muskie fishing before the water locks up. But im yet to find a good light weight one that keeps warm after your hands get wet from casting. Anyone got any good suggestions that they use????

Not sure if this will work for you or not…
I was having same issue with lindy and jigging early last spring, I opted for rubber gloves like doctors use. Except mine are more manly because I got them at Napa. Cold wasent much of an issue, till hands got wet so I now keep them from getting wet. Works pretty well.

When someone fishes with you for the first time, do they get nervous seeing you put on elastic Doctor gloves?

Walleye fishing I can keep my hands dry so cold doesnt bother me then. Its the throwing muskie baits in the cold your hands are constantly wet. Tried latex but the thumbs wear out. maybe them under a mechanics glove….

I use the rubber gloves fishing and hunting, they keep my hands warm enough most of the time, but once it gets too cold they are worthless.

I keep the large size hand warmer packs in my jacket pockets and a towel to keep my hands dry after releasing fish or baiting-up, I find it a hassle wearing glove’s and I like to have the line in my trigger finger to feel the bites too. It works for me.

Best pair of gloves I ever had in the 12 years past that I worked outside year ’round as a contractor were IRON CLAD COLD WEATHER gloves. Not only were they durable but I still had the ability to grab small trim nails and they are waterproof. A little spendy for gloves but WELL worth the money. I know Menards carry’s them and I WILL be putting them through the tests again this year

cant put a price on being able to get more enjoyable time on the water. I will be looking for “iron clad cold weater gloves” on my way out to the lake tonight.

Are the iron clads really waterproof?

Lots of guys like the glacier gloves. I just skip the gloves and troll if my hands get too cold. Honestly, I think it takes some conditioning to get used to it. The type of line you are using can also make a difference for musky fishing. I can’t give you a specific recommendation, but using the most water resistant line you can find will help.

The best for me is a good pair of fingerless rag wool gloves.

I found these at Cabelas. They are actually hunting gloves, but work perfect for fishing. The tips of the index fingers unbutton exposing a slit that your finger can come out of. This works great for jigging. Also, for insulated gloves they are extremely flexible allowing you to grip the rod nicely. I used a pair on the recent Rainy trip, and they worked great. One modification I will make, is adding a piece of Velcro so that the little flap that unbuttons can be secured on the top of the finger. Otherwise,

I like these gloves. The seems to have good dexterity as well as taking the edge off the cold. Waterproof as well.
