GPS Waypoint Management! What do you use?

Just currious to find out what people use to manage all those secrect hotspots.

I have a Garmin and Lowrance units, so in the past I have used Mapsource (which has been really good) and Easy GPS (which is ok).

Recently however Easy GPS updated their software which won’t allow Lowrance HDS units to transfer waypoints/tracks etc. Looks like I will be searching for other software to manage my Lowrance HDS waypoints.

So let’s hear it guys/gals what do you use for managing your waypoints?

I am not familur with easy GPS but just wanted to throw something out. I found when trying to tranfer info from my HD units to LCX, or other units, I could only transfer in version 2 or 3 (I beleive this is right) HDS gives you up to version 4 which is transferable from HDS to HDS but beleive has info that’s not really necessary. I found when using version 2 or 3 everything worked fine in other units including weigh points and tracks.

Not sure if this is of help or not. As mentioned, not familular with easy GPS.

My problem was trying to transfer my Lowrance waypoints/tracks over so I could view them on the Garmin Mapsource software. I really like the maps in mapsource, which has contour lines. Very nice for viewing the whole picture on the lake as well as managing multiple lakes/waypoints separately.

The problem is Mapsource cannot read the Lowrance .usr extension so I would have to convert them to gpx format in easy GPS in order for Mapsource to pick them up. When I tried to convert my waypoints to the GPX format in my Lowrance unit it errors out and shuts down/restarts. Anybody else have this problem when exporting waypoints in GPX format?

Try this. I found it to be by far the easiest for converting Humminbird to Lowrance. Not a guru by any means but this “free” software seems to do alot.

Isnt MapCreat the Lowrance software for GPS management? I would like be certain before considering a purchase to manage both my H2O and Elite 5.

Thanks Mike I’ll give that a shot. Mapcreate is the software for lowrance. I was talking about Mapsource from Garmin earlier. Thanks again!
