I feel stupid asking this but what is the difference between a cold front and a drop in temp? can the temp drop without a cold front passing?

A cold front is a cooler mass of air replacing a warmer mass of air at ground level. The temp. can steadily drop after the front passes.

Yes, for smaller temperature shifts. The amount of sunlight can have an impact, windy evenings and overcast evenings can help keep temps from falling at night. But you won’t see a big temperature swing unless a cold/warm front has moved through.

I know a cold front is “bad” for fishing but what about just the drop
