I would like to personally thank the fishing community for helping fing the person that stole my fishing gear from my home last week. This is a small world, the person who stole my stuff is at the Zumbrota PD right now. My stuff was appearantly sold, but a friend recovered about $2000 worth of gear that was stolen from his truck in April of 2010. Even though I have only recovered one item, just knowing who took it was worth more than words can explain. Thank you all for your help.

September 8, 2010 at 2:45 am #897976I wonder if he was also down around Clear Lake Iowa the night of Easter Sunday…I had over 2500 bucks worth of Rods/Reels stolen from my rod locker out of my Crestliner while parked at the AmericInn…I might have to notify Clear Lake PD!
September 8, 2010 at 3:11 am #897985That’s great news Joe..I hope the legal system can put the down on this one!
September 8, 2010 at 3:20 am #897990If your gear was stolen in the Red Wing area, and a police report was filed I would suggest you contact the PD where you filed the report. My stuff was stolen last week, and my buddies was stolen in April. In between there have been several other thefts to us fisherman, so I think this is bigger than we think.

I LOVE ITTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!Thank you God! There is some Justice!
September 8, 2010 at 3:59 am #898000Glad to hear you got some of your stuff back Joe. When you find out who did it you should make sure and let us all know. Im talking name, address and all other info you can share on this person.
Up here in Anoka is seems like they dont do much more than take these guys in, put a roof over their heads for a few days, feed them a few square meals and send them out again. I have first hand seen these guys with rap sheets a mile long still doing the same old thing. The guys they caught going threw our neighborhood this spring had been caught several times. Even the guy they caught with my stolen truck a few years back had a huge rap sheet and only got 60 days and probation. These guys seem to thrive on people not knowing what they are up to even after they have been caught. Now put the eyes of the community on them by plastering their names and personal info threw the area and you may have some deterrent effect.
In my mind you could even take the guy out for a friendly game of boat anchor and I wouldn’t give a rats .

Would you mind sharing what lead to the guy getting caught? Was it word of mouth, the web, just blind luck, scanning CraigsList, etc.? Might help our community in the future.

September 8, 2010 at 1:08 pm #898044Good to hear.Remember his name and we can throw him a party in the future.
September 8, 2010 at 1:16 pm #898046Get out of jail party I hope.
Too bad this guy didn’t ask Joe to take him fishing…he might have learned the true value of a persons fishing gear.
September 8, 2010 at 1:23 pm #898048That’s awesome, I had $1500 worth of gear and about $200-300 in vandalism to my boat in the last 10 months, now I know we will never find the stuff, but I know what you mean it would be nice to find the people that did it.
