Hey guys I have finally decided I have decided I have way to much stuff to replace if it were to get stolen. There for I am now getting insurance on all my fishing stuff. In order to do this I have to basically do a inventory of all my fishing stuff. I would like to start keeping a inventory of everything I start the year off with and then loose over the year. Then make like one or two big orders every year instead of a bunch of little ones. Any ideas how to do this? I would like to do it on my computer or phone. Let’s hear you ideas guys

You might not be ready for Excel software, and it is going to cost you a lot more than just keeping things in a clear plano and checking to see what you are running low on now and then

take pictures or video and store them along with the receipts in a safe place. As far as logging it in, a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet would probably work the best. and yeah, if your computer doesnt have it, you can buy it and install.

Wouldn’t be as fancy but you could do it in Word, most people have that I think.

If you don’t have excel, google has a free web based program under their google docs. It works pretty well and the neat thing is you can access it from any computer where internet is available.

I was just going to post about Open Office. It will do everything you need and then some. Really a must have for anyone that chooses not to purchase Microsoft Office programs.

Once you start taking tackle inventory, you will either find yourself sick or find yourself getting more stuff to just complete the inventory stats.

Something like, I have 4 of these, 4 of these, uh oh only 2 of these, I will need to get 2 more of them to make things right.

Why try and keep track of anything under $250? You should have that as your deductible. If you are going to throw it in the lake, why try and insure it?

figure out what you have in rods, reels, electronics and then put a lump some number in for tackle.

Might take you about 30 minutes. Then you can spend the rest of you time fishing or thinking about fishing.

    Just my 2 cents

There are Home Inventory software titles out there. There are some that are free, some online, photo attachment capable etc. Google it and start looking.

If you are unsure what Excel is (spreadsheet application) you may have problems making it do what you want, in a meaningful format, within a reasonable time frame. Using an inventory application may be more user friendly.
