Our 25th wedding anniversary is coming up next month. Looking for a vacation spot to relax. One of our customers recommended the Gun Flint Trail.
So I am looking at recommendations on where to stay. We are not taking a boat, but would like to be on the water. Cabin or Lodge as we will be driving by car.

Gunflint lodge is gorgeous. The lodge is one of the coolest I’ve seen. Hungry Jack lodge is also a great place.

You better book a place a.s.a.p.! Fall color’s attracts alot of people to the north shore in September & October, the Bluefin Bay in tofte is a great place for a romantic stay, Your centrally located for all the good roads to drive for the fall color’s too. Have fun

    Hello,

Seagull creek fishing camp towards the end of the gunflint trail. Small, quiet, nice cabins, and you can rent a boat(awesome fishing in the area). Use to go there as a kid every fall with my dad grouse hunting and walleye fishing along with a little brook trout fishing. That is where my mom and dad spent there honeymoon back in the early 80’s. Awesome place in my opinion! The sights and sound in that area are special so wherever you stay you will enjoy your time.

    Take care!

Our problem with booking a place now is we are not sure of my husband’s work schedule yet. He just switched jobs – so no vacation yet. We have to work it into his time off between shifts. I am thinking 3 days if we are lucky.. or we will wait and go in October.

Ever thought of taking your hubby on a “surprise” catfishing trip?

Seriously, it doesn’t matter where you go, it’s the special day and two special people being together that will make where ever you go beautiful.

All the places mentioned are nice. I camped at the end of trail campground, right next to the waterfalls area of the seagul river. The sites are very nice, seen a moose with twins and a bear was mad because we were in his berry patch. The fishing is good and we caught walleye, smallmouth and lake trout. It was a fun trip.

The Gunflint Trail is a great place to vacation and relax. There are a number of great places to stay depending upon what you plan to do while you are up here.

If you don’t mind cooking your own meals or driving to a restaurant to eat then there are lots of options. The Gunflint Trail is 56 miles long with resorts and outfitters located the entire length of the Trail, Grand Marais is the closest town. Accommodations range from bunkhouse to fancy cabins. Some of the resorts are big and busy while others are small and quiet. You’ll just need to decide what is right for you. You can check out the Gunflint Trail website for information about all of the resorts on the Trail, http:www.gunflint-trail.com

Gunflint has dining as does Trail Center, Windigo, Bearskin and Loon Lake Lodge.
If you’re looking to fish on Saganaga then Voyageur is the place to stay, 56 miles from Grand Marais.
The Gunflint Trail is a great place to visit and an even better place to live.

    Happy Trails,
    Sue

Check out some of the Bed and Breakfast places – on line or rent a house on VRBO. You can sometimes get a good deal – last minute – as you don’ t know the work schedule yet.

It’s been since the early 80s, but I bet it hasn’t chaged. If you want a vacation away then the boundery waters is the place. Back then the wife and I camped on anisland for a week and never seen, heard,or even seen a campfire from another campsight for the inter week.
